610 will always remain atop the Sports Radio world in Houston, regardless of how talent-less they have become. They reach out to the general middle-of-the-road fan. The one who knows there is a radio station on the AM dial that has sports on when there isnt any music playing. The internet-poster/blogger, although very vocal through their keyboards, doesnt have to listen to their "Douchey Crap" in order for them to make $$$. They thrive on constantly throwing it into their ads all the big names they have on every week, just to get that average fan to tune in at least 1 time a day. they arent going anywhere.
So AM610 will be fine just because they are the great institution known as AM610? Interesting. It might surprise you that people listen to the radio because of what's on the radio, not because of what the ads mention. If the talent is poor, listeners will leave. What actually might save the bacon for 610 is being the home station for the Rockets and Texans. Without that, 610 would die quickly with the lineup of misfits they have now.
