They will match, unless we over pay a ridiculous amount. which would be stupid, and morey wouldn't anyway.

Lin is an economics major from Harvard. Maybe he needs time to consult his Harvard professors on the economics of his contract. :)

Regarding Lin's defensive ability, it's funny because when he was at Golden State, all the GS fans were raving about his defense but saying he can't shoot a lick. A year later, the tide of opinion has shifted the other direction. Personally, I think he's a little underrated with his defense now.

Nonetheless, I think there are tough matchups for him and these are extremely athletic fast guys like Rose and Westbrook. He is not super athletic and he will have a hard time keeping these guys in front of him. However, if you watched the Knicks-Bulls game in full, you'll see Lin did ok on the defensive end against Rose. He didn't lock him down, but he did ok. Honestly, I don't know any PGs out there who won't have a hard time defending Rose.

On the offensive end, everybody keeps bringing up the Miami Heat game as the barometer of Lin's ability (or lack thereof). I will wholeheartedly agree that his weaknesses got exposed in this game. This game showed the weakness of his left hand and his difficulty protecting the ball with quick defensive-oriented guards like Chalmers. But other than those two which he's working on, if you watch the game again, Lin didn't go 1-for-11 because he couldn't get past Chalmers or Cole. I will say this about Lin - there has never been anybody who's guarded him who was able to stop him from penetrating. He has a crazy quick first step. That's why you always hear the phrase "deceptively quick" by the announcers.

Personally, I would have preferred Dragic over Lin. Dragic is just much more polished and I have doubts on Lin's knee and ability to hold up for 82 games the way he attacks the basket. However, Lin is not the scrub some folks here are painthing him out to be.
