Actually, I think... and I'm just speculating here, that it's just the opposite. The Rockets actually WANT to keep both Dragic and Lowry, believing they can both get 30+mpg with the team. It's simply that Lowry and Dragic themselves do not want to defer to each other.

Meanwhile, Lin has been a SG before, and probably is more amicable to 2-PG sets as the SG, which allows Lowry to maintain his status as starting PG. McHale's offense puts the ball in the PGs hands all the time. It's incredibly useful to have two starting caliber PGs in his system. If Lin is willing to split his time between being a starting SG and a backup PG, it would certainly allow McHale to run his stuff for 48 minutes.

The dual-PG rotation becomes even more deadly with Asik, since the defensive liabilities are lessened with Lin or Lowry having to defend a SG.

Lol no. Lin is horrendous on defense. He's active but he also plays the passing lane too aggressively. He lacks discipline on the defensive end - which of course can easily be corrected.

Good Lord, a deal hasn't even been announced and people are using what's in this unannounced deal to bash Morey.

from all games he started before head coach change and I watched, the ball was in his hand most time. he made his plays and made his teammates play very well. he is definitely a 1 guard. his teammates liked to play around him and reacted very well from both ends.

The no extensions policy really backfired for Morey this time. I understand it with restricted free agents where we can let the league dictate value and still get a chance to match. It cetrtainly worked with Landry and Lowry, but Dragic should have been extended. You are not negotiating from a postition of power with an unrestricted free agent.

Which is why we consistently fail at getting any decent ones.

Bima explained months ago that Dragic wouldn't get more than $4 million per through extension because of his contract or something. If they could have extended him they would have.

They could have offered it at least. It is all conjecture as to whether Goran would have signed the QO or gone for a longer term deal. It is pretty clear the Rockets did not think all that highly of him at the time.

Which begs the question of what are they watching in practice? Who is the talent evaluator over there?

So i guess i was right...He was looking for a 2nd really big payday...I was all about offering him a 3 year 8 mil deal...and if he does well he could really get a huge contract after...However what most players dont realize is that they are at just one moment in their career where something devastating can go wrong...It just takes one step, twisted ankle, busted knee...for all their dreams to come crashing down. Dragic should have ensured his immediate future without thinking too far down the line...the biggest problem with so many players today..."I know ill get better down the line"...The teams position is "what if you dont?" The Rockets had the flexibility by having Lowry on the roster. They made a decent decision

Everyone whining now about 4th year options and blah blah blah, will be singing a different tune in about 2 or 3 years when players are clamouring to come play with Lamb, White and Motie....

    If we sign Lin...cool.

    Keep Lowry....cool.

People being so upset over Dragic is comedy to me tho.

He was a good player, no doubt.....but not THAT good.

Lin is better and a tad cheaper per the rumors.

.....AND.....if we keep Lowry (also better than Dragic)....we still have money for the future.

I understand the fandom, but a lot of people arent being realistic about the Rox moves AT ALL!

It's not your money and you have no idea how the new CBA rules are affecting moves that are made or not made.....so stop crying and just watch.

    One word: marketability.

Don't fool yourselves into thinking that there is a basketball reason behind this insanity.

I can kind of understand people saying Lowry is better because he played well for a full season, but Dragic put up better numbers than Lins insane 2 weeks for about half of the season. He was also better than kyles 2 week streak.
