Jeez...I hate to hear that. Seriously thought we have some regulars that almost become part of the show. Like Romey's "Legends" only not good. Mike in Dairy Ashford comes to mind as someone who is interesting for whatever reason. Then we have people like Gilbert who you will be hearing less and less of, thank God. On Tuesday and Thursday mornings during peak hours we have a guy screening calls. He has been given specific insturctions on greeting the caller, thanking them for calling and listening, establishing if they have something decent to contribute or pertinant to discuss or ask, that kind of stuff. When the show producer is producing the show and acreening calls they have a tendency to get over whelmed and this can come off brutally on the caller. That's probably what happened with KBME Jeff. If he sets a policy that weeds calls it makes his job easier and GOD knows chuckie can pull off a solo show with no calls.
I'm doing an event with Brian E. Becker in a few weeks and am invited to their VIP reception. I'm already making my Clear Channel notes and will include the "rules of station calling" in my conversation. Should I mention anything specifically Jeff?
Hopefully that means we won't hear anymore about Cowboy Steve or whatever his name is. Seriously, that act has gotten pretty old with John always reading his emails. Oh and can you please do something about that windows commercial with that lady named Jeaneatte Farmer? I can't stand that thing, her voice is so annoying and it seems like it plays EVERY commercial break! "Very very professional job....I'm picky and there is not one thing they didn't do right. The best contractor of sorts work I've had done." Seriously, this lady annoys me as much as those Polaroid commercials during the Rockets games!
Speaking of Granato, what is also getting old is his "Guest Du Joir" sayings... For example: Dick Harmon: "Is that any good?" John Granato: "Is that any good?" Steve McKinney: "Totally sweet" John Granato: "Totally sweet" At least Lance's imitations are funny...Granato runs that crap in the ground.
What's wrong with the "Chance McClain Hour" sponsored by Clutchfans featuring the best posts, Rocket's talk and jokes about Charlie Pallilo's mom.
What's teh deal with Gilbert anyway? From what I can gather he's a r****d John and Lance are exploiting for cheap laughs?
Gilbert rocks. Because of Gilbert getting his bike stolen, I found an old friend of mine from HS at the Ticket Attractions road trip. Although I haven't seen her since.... Whatever. And Gilbert has apparently met every friggin celebrity known to man.
It's AB and C col' chillin n shoutin' out to all of our cc.net brothers out there! YEEEEEEEEEEEEEE-HAAAAAAAAAW!!!!! I'm down.
Is Gilbert the guy that always sounds drunk or has some problem talking. I can never understand what he's saying.
Unfortunately for a lot of you, all you get exposed to are these 2 hometown stations on which the hosts dont really follow anything thats not a major story outside of Texas...nor do they care. The fact that the guy said that to jeff is an absolute joke. Jeff, as we know, is a knowledgeable guy...especially when it pertains to the Rockets...but now, the guys at 790 will never know it. WFAN in NY thrived on repeat callers (as well as knowlegeable talk show hosts).....you could always expect Vinny from Queens to call in when there was stuff going on about the Mets...Jerome from Manhattan was the resident Yankee homer who called in at least 2 times per week...Doris (i think that was her name) always called in to talk hockey with her raspy voice (i believe rick reilly did a stroy on her in SI)...Dennis in Yonkers called in so often, that another station heard how knowledgeable he was an hired him to do a daily show... sometimes, Mike and the Maddog will start the show by saying "Boy, Jerome is probably dialing in like crazy today" if something was up with the Yanks
Isn't she that blind Islanders fan? WOULDN'T YOU HAVE TO BE BLIND TO BE AN ISLANDERS FAN LOLOLOOLALOLOL???? I'm your huckleberry.
The Gilbert bits - and the morning show generally - are usually entertaining EXCEPT for the golf hour. Jesus that's excruciating. Golf on TV is boring as hell, much less on the radio... That's a sport that is meant to be played live only - not watched or listened to. Chance, am I correct in stating that both Rich & Mark picked the Mavs to win?! I know we don't want them to be complete homers, but c'mon fools!
These guys aren't native fans. They get paid to broadcast their insights and opinions. It's not always positive. In this case they're wrong. DEAD WRONG
Lance says the samething about the morning show and so does Marc. I think most of the hosts don't want the same callers more than twice and I don't blame them.
I remember Jerome from his calls to Sporting News Radio, especially the overnight shows. Good God, he's insane! In a good way.
Wait a minute Jeff, don't you introduce yourself as "Jeff, the Clutch BBS guy?" Let's see them turn THAT away.
