No way we are getting Artest without taking Croshers and/or other bad contracts. We don't have the salaries to match up with Croshere+Artest...it's not happening. (Even though I wouldn't mind him in Houston...you know JVG has to like his toughness too, just look at his old knick teams)
No Artest. No trade as of yet. But CD absolutely contacted Pacers for possible swap. Howard+Wesley for Artest, Anyone? With a heart beat!
For the record Croshere is in his final season. It is now officially a GOOD contract. Oh, and the reason why we have no chance of landing Artest is because CD thinks he is a nut job.
Sorry, but my bizarre sense of humor found that word hilarious for some reason. Can't say I've ever seen that phrase spelled like that. Anyway, I'm actually glad we're not going for Artest. Despite his obvious talent, the man is a serious head case. If only he were clear about what he wanted, there'd be a lot more teams after him. He contradicts himself in every press release and interview. He's a very confused man.
Wow, how mature. Judging by every one of your posts, I would recommend you stop raiding your local middle school for your jokes. But, unfortunately for me, I know that your humor is not your worst characteristic. I've seen you try to ball.
Even if CD IS contacting Indy, he probably wouldn't say so with the chemistry of the team finally starting to...somewhat come around...a little bit. But seriously, I'd take Croshere to get Artest!
Will, I think you make a good call there. I was thinking along those same lines as well. I think the team really feels that not having Griffin pan out and what it took to acquire him in the draft (3 1st rounders), REALLY set this team back in terms of "young talent" to bulster the roster. We are now JUST getting back to where we were before in terms of having guys like Luther Head on the roster. Young guys that can grow with our core. I would think CD/JVG might be gunshy to make any moves to deplete the roster of talent again for a potential problem where they could lose those assets for nothing. That's a big risk.
Looks like Artest could go to Toronto...from ESPN Insider Dec 15 - According to the Toronto Sun, a rumor making the rounds last night had the Pacers badboy and second-round pick Erazem Lorbek going to the Raptors for Morris Peterson, another roster player (potentially Matt Bonner) and a first-round pick.
Not a bad deal for the Pacers if that is the one they ultimately decide on. They get a nice role player in Peterson (someone I would love the Rockets to acquire), and he has a decent salary. They get a nice hustle role player in Bonner, and a 1st round pick to continue to add more talent to the roster or use in a future trade to package with a player to get a more talented player to add to the roster.
16 teams thats worse odds than the lottery. Three reasons I believe CD, 1. who do we have that he would trade, Swift, Anderson, Rafer, Wesley, Head or Howard. Would you trade Artest for the above if you were Walsh. 2. Artest would be as happy as a hula dancer in Antarctica if he was traded to Houston. He wants to play in NY. 3. Artest is a head case and that is definitely going to scare off some GMs and it looks like CD is one of them. I personally would love to have the guy for as much as any combination of the above players but I don't think its going to happen.
