I can picture it in my mind that Bonzi with his million dollar smile on his face, saying: $$ hey, I am back $$

Hope he gets down to the business and gets it done by all means, we need him anyway. If this works out, big props to JVG handling the situation.

You obviously make judgments off one experience. They sometimes give advance warning. I've known for 3 months that I'll have a root canal this coming year. Nothing to do with this thread, but stop trashing people for no reason when you don't know things yourself.

Didn't he blame like 5 days after the root canal? I know periodontist and it doesn't take 5 freaking days to recover from a root canal buddy.

In his case his one experience makes him extremely more knowledgable than you on this particular root canal.

You are talking to Luffy. I think Luffy knows about root canals since he just had one and he did say he was fine the same day. I swear the lack of intelligence on this board baffles me. Read the whole thread a few times and then repost.

i posted right after i read luffy's post, then proceeded to finish reading the rest of the posts... then i went read up on all of luffy's previous posts.... very interesting observation, hehe, pretty cool if you think about it that a player actually reads and posts here if it is indeed true............ luffy we need you man, get your ass in shape and help us win a championship buddy

No, but he was playing well in Portland, Memphis, and Sacramento. He wasn't when he played for us. Why is this so hard to understand? He was playing terribly, so he was benched. Past production is irrelevant; only production right now is going to help the team win.

This is akin to the Rockets signing Bill Russell (today), benching him, and then people arguing "but he was good when he played for Boston!"

I don't know if this has been mentioned, but maybe he is being shopped, so we have them out displaying his game right now.

You are judging it on such a small sample size and with such few minutes. Heck Yao was scoreless in his first game. I guess you would bench him too after that game and call him a scrub cause you obviously would have seen enough of him to make that judgement.

This is a little different, but I remember when Marcus Camby first came to the Knicks from the Raptors in '98, there were media reports about JVG and him not getting along because JVG was unhappy about trading away his favorite thug, Charles Oakley. For most of that strike-shortened season, Camby sat on the bench a lot because JVG refused to play him much, and the media speculated whether the two would be able to coexist.

Of course, everything turned out great with that amazing run in the playoffs going from the 8th seed to the finals, with Camby (and Sprewell) playing a pivotal role. But at the same time, this shows JVG may not be without his faults either.

As for Bonzi Wells, I don't see a problem with how Gundy is handling the situation; He's expecting a degree of professionalism from Wells that he expects from all his players, as he should.

But now that Bonzi blinked first, hopefully he can end up playing a key role in our own amazing run in the playoffs. :)

Hmmm... leeeet's see... I believe there's also this thing called "practice" that pro players have to go to, so JVG obviously had more than just game time to evaluate him. And even with that aside, if you actually watched those games it was plenty obvious that Bonzi wasn't ready to play.

EDIT: Oh, and a rookie who's never ever played in the NBA is obviously equivalent to a guy who's supposed to be in his prime.

    Hmmmmmmmmmmmm

Let's see... T_Mac back is hurt and all of a sudden Bonzi is APOLOGIZING to JVG!!!!

Bonzi calls up JVG to apologize..... Forgive me to all of you that are reading the words of the first post... But i'm sorry this doesn't sound right....

Would Bonzi be apologizing and be accepted back if T_Mac's back wasn't hurt????

    Have to luv politics!!!!!

No, he showed exactly what Van Gundy said, and exactly what he himself still struggled with - being out of shape.

Last year's Bonzi Wells was a tough, athletic wing. This year, the guy barely got the ball over the rim on a breakaway dunk.

You're getting more hilarious as you go.

    Van Gundy 1, Bonzi 0.

Oh, and a guy whos been retired for over 30 years is obviously equivalent to a guy whos supposed to be in his prime  the cookie crumbles both ways buddy

Camby is different... he actually played 20 mpg in the regular season, not insignificant minutes. Totally different from Bonzi getting 0 minutes. Camby was just young and fairly raw, freshly off a couple of underachieving injury plagued years in Toronto. Besides, he was competing for minutes against Larry Johnson, Pat Ewing, and a young Kurt Thomas-- 3 pretty decent guys.

Van Gundy was hard on him, but still developed him and gave him minutes according to team need and his performance.

Camby gradually earned more PT with his own improvment and with the aging of LJ and Ewing.
