i'm just shocked that some people will blame jvg for not playing a proven selfish, fat miscreant. you guys are clasic enablers. the only way to get a guy like bonzi to be a good teammate is to take a hard line stance. you have to set borders and show that nothing less will be tolerated.
I am not suprised at all he was just waiting for t-mac or yao to go out with a injury so he could waltz in and get 20 shots a game and buff up his stats. I hope we show case him for a while and let him have some good games, then we ship him and his mole out of town to the first team that gives us starter lvl talent in return.
So Bonzi acts like a complete selfish me first person (I know I am making some assumptions here but based on past history and how he showed up for training camp it's not much of a leap) and pouts around expecting the world to bow down to him. JVG refused to bow down to him and tells him to go away until he's in shape and wants to play team ball. Bonzi pouts for weeks (while under contract and getting paid) until he finally realizes his temper tantrum isn't going to work then crawls back and says I'm sorry because he sees that big payday drifting further and further away. Now Bonzi is a class act but not JVG? I'd say hat's off to VanGundy.
Yeah, Jeff was the one that was shoving twinkies down his throat and girls with thunder thighs on his lap. How inhumane of Jeff.
That is only the reports that have been sent out by jvg and the team to discredit bonzi. If jvg played him from the start, then none of this ever happened. Let's see..jvg and the team went to bonzi to recruit him. They asked him to sign with the rockets over teams like denver and miami. They knew his history before they signed him. They knew he had a groin injury and couldn't work out much in the summer for fear of getting injured without a contract. Now, JVG refuses to play him after they came to bonzi and not the other way around? Jvg is the good guy in all this for putting his own feelings above the team?
There had to be something more to that story..Glad to hear we are heading in the right direction...It was good to have VG not give in until now...
I'd say congrats to JVG as well ... Forcing Bonzi to make the first move after Bonzi was the one who showed he did not want to be part of the team was the right thing to do. I think Bonzi realizes that he has to be a member of this team through and through or he is gone and that is a good thing for the Rockets.
I don't kid when it comes down to wanting the rockets to win a championship. The question you need to ask yourself is are the people who support jvg for being the cause of this fiasco for real?
It's about freaking time. For better or worse, Bonzi and the rockets need each other. The rockets need Bonzi to play well to either help this team make and succeed in the playoffs, or to increase his trade value. And Bonzi needs to get on the court before he flushes his next contract down the toilet like he did with his last one.
far too much credit.. which is why Luffy is on my ignore list...so if yall stop quoting him I wouldn't have to read his hate.. and it would be much appreciated and to hop back on track in the thread... Hopefully this is a sign of maturity for BW. I am sure that stubborness on both sides is what made this take as long as it has. I just hope that its all true and he will be on the court soon. I am anxious to see him play, well, with the team. I only question how long his maturity will last.
great news... I believe... both are at fault to a extent... lets not specualte on why their was a rift between them...only that we know they are trying to work it out... Bonzi needs to work his a$$ off and get back in shape.... JVG needs to listen to his own words... and understand that being in game shape, and being in shape or two different things.... and the ony way Bonzi gets into game shape is to play....
I am really impressed with the way JVG has handled the Bonzi situation. Cleverly deflected the situation away from the public eye while the mess was going on and got the team on a roll in spite of Bonzi (while preventing media speculation from ruining team chemistry). And now essentially Bonzi has been forced to capitulate and will learn to play for the team rather than for himself. Obviously Bonzi realizes now that this ain't Sacramento anymore. This is the stuff good coaches are made of.
With all the drama of this latest episode of "As the Rockets Turn" -- Bonzi is "Theater in the Round."
