Bears mentioning that this one was a wide open midranger w/ Ronny Turiaf purposely giving him the look. If Kobe's in the same situation, he would've had someone spot welded to him.

It was an open midrange jumper because if you defend too close he'll take it to the rim.

I think the definition 82games uses is fine for a game-winning shot. It may include some situations that turn out not to win the game, but it will include many game winning opportunities players have that you might miss if you just looked at buzzer beaters.

Regardless, with nine game-winning shots in that span, you should probably admit that Lebron is at least good at hitting game-winning shots.

He didn't take 5 steps, but he did travel before the shot against the Bucks last season.

That is a cool list. Where did you get it? I know you're a Kobe fanboy, but even you wouldn't have that memorized. :)

Also, did Lebron's list of nine game-winning shots include free throws (three times for Kobe) and overtime forcing shots (two for Kobe)?

This is how 5 steps layup is defined, literally. And it was how he won first playoff series.

And in case you don't understand the travel rule, as most LeBron fanbois, here is the rule.

-A player who lands with one foot first may only pivot using that foot. A progressing player who jumps off one foot on the first step may land with both feet simultaneously for the second step. In this situation, the player may not pivot with either foot and if one or both feet leave the floor the ball must be released before either returns to the floor.

LeBron did a jump stop upon dribble, nether foot can be pivot, but he subsequently took 2 more steps. That's an undefendable move. I am sure if LeBron uses this against Kobe 1on1, Kobe has no chance.

FTs were counted, as MJ's list included that. But OT forcing jumper wasn't counted. You saw some there because he hit one to be in OT and hit another to win it.

Please re-read my post. I was not stating that Lebron didn't take 5 steps. I was stating that while Kobe may not have taken five steps, he did still travel before hitting that game winner against the Bucks.

Sorry, that DOUBLED his numbed of supposed "game winning shots".

It's either a game winning shot or it isn't. You just can't make up a game winning shot. Lol

Lebron had 9 game winning shots in, not 17 as you said.

The pace is not even close.

I used to like Lebron, I'm somewhat fair in assessing him.

But he's not even close to Kobe in terms of game winners.

And at the rate Lebron's going, he'll be far short of Michael Jordan as well.

As I said before, Lebron is better in other areas than Kobe, but game winners just isn't one of them.

Lebron is not even remotely close in this category comparison.

That doesn't say much, game winners require opportunities, lebron might not hit any thing year at all as junk time becomes a daily occurrence.

However i'd imagine ability to create your own shot and person you most want to take the game winner are pretty correlated stats....

I think it's about creating those opportunities.

For example, one of the best game winning shot makers in history was Jordan.

The Lakers last year were the Champions and yet Kobe set the record for most game winning shots in a season.

Jordan's Bulls were a dominant team but Jordan also ranks among the leaders in game winning shots.

Larry Bird is above both Kobe and MJ in game winning shots and his Celtics dominated the 80s.

These kinds of players make their own destiny rather than wait for the opportunities to come to them.
