Who will win the 2010-11 MVP?
    1. Kevin Durant, Oklahoma City 66.7% 2. Kobe Bryant, L.A. Lakers 25.9%

    okayyyyy

Who is the best small forward in the NBA?
    1. LeBron James, Miami 67.9%
    2. Kevin Durant, Oklahoma City 28.6% 3. Carmelo Anthony, Denver 3.6%

so they think Kevin Durant is the best player in the league but not the best small forward?

You respect Kobe because even as an 18 year old rookie he was a selfish punk who would rather jack up bad contested shots than show any trust in his teammates?

I'm kidding, I know you mean that you respect the way he was able to learn from that situation and has improved to the point that he's hit those same shots in the same situation many times since then. I actually agree somewhat, although I think he's still too selfish.

No, LeBron never excelled in this vote. He received vote only once all these years in 08.

i said in general. i never had a problem with kobe being #1 for closer (his reputation speaks for itself, and his 5 rings help). lebron has to win to earn that closer role. i just didn't like how lebron didn't get a vote when stats tell that he's one of the top 2-3 clutchest players in the game.

i'm talking about other categories in general. several GMs have spoken out about lebron's "decision" and how they don't like the publicity the heat are having, notably otis smith.

If your numbers were true, I would totally agree.

    Unfortunately, your numbers are incorrect.

Where did you get that Lebron made 17 Game winners in that time span? 2004-2009?

    That's obviously incorrect.

Just to add to my post.

There's no way Lebron made 17 game winners Steve Francis Rules in just 5 years.

If you can provide me with proof, I'll say Lebron is the clutchest player that ever lived.

17 game winners in 5 years is an incredibly clutch rate.

If think there is a bit of jealousy in the GM community. That is what DM was saying today morning. He was like how is it possible to vote for any team other than Heat as more improved. He also stated lebron is the best player in league.

I don't want to knock Morey, he's done great for the Rockets.

With that said, I don't quite agree with Morey's views as it pertains to championships.

Morey's a numbers guy and it is obvious to him that the Heat are the most improved due to the numbers. Lebron's numbers are also the best in the league but I don't count him as a #1 option for a championship team kind of guy. He's like a super Scottie Pippen.

But alot of GM's and coaches in the NBA value people and chemistry over the face value of numbers.

I wouldn't doubt that Morey voted for the Heat as winning the NBA championship this year. By the numbers, the Heat are a lock for the championship.

But I don't think they will due to people and chemistry...despite the numbers.

And I think Morey is great for the Rockets. He can't build a Championship team with his formula but he can definitely build a very solid Western Conf contender.

morey is one of the rare guys who straight up talks facts if you want him to.

numbers, lebron is BY FAR the best player in the league. there should be zero argument about that.

now, if you want to bring in reputation/rings, kobe gets into the conversation.

this was why jordan was the undisputed best player in his era and GOAT. he not only had the numbers, but had EVERYTHING else.

lebron just needs to win for him to be universally accepted, esp. with the backlash of his "decision."

LeRobin will see his number going down, now he can't be the ballhog he was in Cavs. And LeRobin is no longer in the conversation of MJ, Kobe. He's now compared to Pippen. Better number, 6 rings less, we'll see if he can catch that.

why would lebron want to be in the coversation w/ kobe? he wants to be #1. kobe will end up around #10.

Lebron did make 17 game winners in that span. Of course, you're probably now going to say that you disagree with the definition of "game winner" or something else ridiculous.

That's the only conversation for #1 Kobe is ever going to be in. He was one of the all-time great side kicks when he won those first three championships. He proved he could be the best player on a championship team, but he's not in the class of Magic, Bird, MJ, Hakeem, Shaq, and Duncan (just to name the players I've actually seen play).

Magic won 5 championships and 3 FMVP. Shaq and Duncan, 4 championships and 3FMVP.

Kobe wins another championship and FMVP he's gonna have 6 and 3, and he beats all the guys you mentioned except MJ.

And he's already in this class you like it or not. LeBron, on the other hand, has 1 more MVP than AI, that's his class.

Lol, a shot in the last 24 seconds is not necessarily the "game winning shot". I don't have to say anything, it says it right there in your link:

"Obviously though this definition means a shot may not actually be a game winner"

Here are Lebron's actual "game-winning shots" from 2004 to 2009:

    9 Total

    1. Mar. 22, 2006: Cavaliers 120 - Bobcats 118 - jumpshot

    2. April 10, 2006: Cavaliers 103 - Hornets 101 - jumpshot

    3. April 28, 2006: Cavaliers 97 - Wizards 96 bank-shot

    4. May 03, 2006: Cavaliers 121 - Wizards 120 layup

    5. May 31, 2007: Cavaliers 109 - Pistons 107 layup

    6. Jan. 17, 2008: Cavaliers 90 - Spurs 88 layup

    7. Jan. 30, 2008: Cavaliers 84 - TrailBlazers 83 layup

    8. Jan. 23, 2009: Cavaliers 106 - Warriors 105 buzzer beater, jumper

    9. May 22, 2009: Cavaliers 96 - Magic 95 buzzer-beater, 3 pointer
