According to the evening news in Philly this is a done deal and will be announced on Wednesday morning.
If this happens, there will be enormous pressure on AI to make it work. He's not a dumb guy. I predict he will stick with them the entire season.
How does this deal suck? All he wants to do is play. I'm pretty sure money is the least of AI's concerns. I can't wait to see the ovation he receives when he comes back. It's going to be awesome.
This is cool -- if Iverson can lead them back to the playoffs then that is a great story and a proper finish to a HOF career.
After what happened in Detroit and Memphis, were you expecting a 6-year, $60 million contract or something?
Is he still getting paid by memphis's contract? If so, this kind of thing is really unfair, see Marbury.
AI is like a real-life Rocky story, and I never really fully accepted his departure from Philly, I thought it was a sad day for the NBA when he left. Philly is the only city that understands and accepts AI for who he is, his blue collar nature fits that city to a T, and I think they still love him over there. That Philly team that went to the finals will forever be one of my fondest memories as an NBA fan. AI did a lot for that franchise and they are still quite fond of him over there. He still seems to have a lot of game left in him, he just wasn't happy with his role. I hope this works out for him and he gets the send off he deserves. At least he may help with the marketing of that awful team they have there.
Once again... Press Hop (53 second mark makes ^this funnier) <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/exOxUAntx8I&hl=en_US&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/exOxUAntx8I&hl=en_US&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>
Love him or hate him there's no denying his passion for the game. Sounds like he had a very emotional return press conference. I can't wait to see him back in action and I hope he can lead the Sixers back to the playoffs.
and i agree with what he said. he wouldn't come back if he doesn't think he's still pretty good. these guys actually have a lot of pride and don't want to embarrass themselves. i watch for him to have a great time in philly for the rest of the year. ya think tmac is gonna hold a press conference and cries when adelman finally let him play?
Can't embed it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_bDyWjsQBpk Iverson is a LEGEND. One of the best scorers ever. What's more impressive is the heart that he plays with. I'm glad he has a last chance.
Just found it on nba.com. http://www.nba.com/video/channels/nba_tv/2009/12/03/20091203_phi_iverson_sot2.nba/
