20 turnovers is what lost us the game. Bad passing decisions and not taking care of the ball. No excuse for this.

I don't get the posts about Lee needing to "know his role"...seems to me that he does. You need to get over the last preseason game, your love for Ariza or whatever it is.

He had 8 points on 4-9 shooting and 3 steals in just 15 minutes, while guarding Kobe who I never saw even take a shot while Lee was on him. His first 4 trips I KNOW Kobe deferred every time and passed off to a teammate for the shot. He took maybe one ill-advised shot that I saw, and I'm pretty sure everyone on the team did that cuz typically everyone will take a shot or two they shouldn't during the game - heck the greatest (Kobe, Wade, Durant, etc.) take poor shots all the time, no one complains cuz they're the greatest.

I'd say for 15 minutes of action, he played pretty darn well for his first game in the real Rockets rotation.

As for the loss - blame the team. The team blew a 15 point lead, not any singular individual. You've got to check a wide open shooter especially when you know they're hot.

Saying things we should have done or done better in order to win the game is pointless.

The Lakers can do the exact same thing, because lord knows they didn't run a perfect game last night, too. They had players that stepped up big time in key moments. We didn't.

Either way, I watched this game primarily to see how Yao was going to perform and I am satisfied. This gon' be a good season

This. It was a coin flip of a game.

What is most interesting is that everyone is pointing to offensive laspes in a game where we scored 110 points. It was our defensive rotation pure and simple. Scola left Odom wide open under the basket way too many times. our rotation on guarding the three point line at the end is what allowed Blake to hit that shot. There is no need to panic, there is no need to change the rotation this is something that will be fixed with practice.

You don't friggn need everyone out there to be able to score. I've seen plenty of championship teams start a player who scored less than 8ppg.

Did you really think the Rockets played "pretty bad overall"? I actually thought they looked really good most of the night. The bogged down offensively in the 4th quarter and they were beat by Blake/Brown 3 pointers that could have been defended better but all in all I thought it was pretty good. I doubt there will be many games where the offense clicks like it did in the first half for 48 minutes.

Things I like and didn't Like

    Liked
    * AB and Martin are going to give other teams the business repeatedly
    * Pushing the ball at the Laker's on every opportunity
    * Bench scoring in the 1st half and kept the lead

    Disliked
    * Our defense is horrible, 112 points, 61 in the 2nd half.
    * Shane shading Kobe to his right and allowing him to score an 1
    * Defensive rebounding, too many long rebounds that Brooks and Martin were not getting to.
    * Chuck Hayes is good defender on Artest, but anyone with height he is rendered ineffective
    * Liked the play at the end, however, AB could hav scored on the right instead of going for the reverse.
    * Why was Shane in the game for end play? Where is Bud
    * Our frontline is flat footed and can't jump to get to rebounds. At least give Hill and Patterson a shot over Brad or Chuck.

Morey, please make a play for AI to replace Shane and give up Hill.

I just wish Hill would get it together and force his way into the lineup. We really need a guy with his talent out there as a change up, but it's on him to play/practice with appropriate fire.

I thought they played sloppy...good in spurts but you can see the chemistry is just not that tight yet.

You do that, because lord knows I won't remember.....

I sometimes stroll over to the Laker's board just to peak at what's going down on their side of the fence. Apparently Shannon Brown's been practicing and adding aspects to his game, and has been playing extremely well thus far (including preseason). To be frank, this guy has all the tools to become a nice player- In addition to his crazy hops, he's got Jordan-like mits. Plus it's not like he's a dimwit *cough JRWafer**cough*. Laker's getting rid of Farmar will prob help him get more minutes and confidence.

All I'm saying is don't act all surprised that he torched us. Players who shoot those shots without hesitation prob has enough skill to make them (unless you're Brian Cook aka brick master).

Of course you act surprise. Especially when your scouting report shows you he is not a knock down 3 point shooter. People now know not to leave Budinger open but there was a period tey didn't know. There scouting had not caught up to his shooting ability. Budinger was an afterthought and it was obvious Brown was a bit of an afterthought last night too. That won't happen again. He may continually play as good as he did last night. he will never get as many open looks as he did last night against the Rockets. That is the point.

Shannon Brown will not sneak up on the Rockets just as Aaron Brooks will never again sneak up on the Lakers. That is the point!

    Hey OMR,

Even Rafer Alston had a hot shooting 3pt game every now and again.

Bad luck for us, that Shannon's was last night.

Well, it's easier to heat up when there's no one within 10 feet of you.

Shannon Brown shot 47% from the 3 pt line in the preseason. I refuse to believe that the Rockets were unaware of this.

If only we had Ariza, the outcome would be different.

Can't remember exactly but in the first half there were at least 2 or 3 calls I was surprised the Rockets got in their favor. The game was officiated very well in my opinion. Can't blame the officials.
