all athletes are overpaid? so all these income generated by professional sports should just go to who?

so who's complaining?.. thats why the guy does not want to sign for less money than he deserves.. because he does not want to complain in the end..

is what you're saying apply with everyone else who make over 1M? so team owners, businessmen, corporate execs should give back or donate to charity anything over 1M?

As i said before Thugs is a extreme GENERALIZATION . but lets be honest, 2.2 mill extra is'nt gonna make a huge difference to a guy like Damon whos coming off a 90 MILLON CONTRACT!

I'm not saying that "we spend more argument" is something I buy, but for a middle class family to work for 35+ years and retired, and to expect to up keep their life stylem it's gonna take 2 - 3 million dollars in savings and investments for those 35 years. That figure is probably more skewed when you look at guys from the NBA where 12 years of work is expected to pay for rest of their lives.

If a NBA player can live a normal life then those are great still great money, but a NBA player have so much pressure to donate large amounts to charity, tip well, etc. Especially some of the middle of the Jon Barry types, unless they ended up investing really well, they prolly aren't living that much more lavish than most upper middle class Americans. Just my take.

I disagree, Swift wanting more money, but nobody threw it at him. So, that's why he's with the rockets.

Just to be accurate, Portland and NJ did agree on a SnT for Rahim. Portland will get a 1st round pick from NJ.

Get over yourself...let's face it, pro athletes are paid a lot of money, but where is it coming from? From Joe Q. Fan like you and me who pay for tickets and merchandise and whatever the hell else we can get our hands on. Who else SHOULD all of that money go to? You can argue that it should go to charities or other more noble destinations, but when the players are the ones responsible for putting the fans in the seats, etc., they are entitled to that money, fair or not.

Yeah, what assholes people can be for wanting to choose a lucrative profession that they enjoy and try to make all the money they can from it...oh, wait, that's what every single person in America does. The ONLY people who can b**** about how much money pro athletes are making are those who refuse to follow it or give any portion of their time or resources to it. And I don't think that would include anyone on this board (at least not for any of us who spend hours upon hours on this site every week :)).

What this all comes down to is how far in debt is Damon Stoudamire. Money is relative. The more you have the less you care about it. But there is an exception, if you are in debt, you have got to have to the money.

And what is your point? My point is that athletes are OVERPAID, and it doesnt matter who or where their money are coming from. IT would be nice if tickets were cheaper wouldnt it? Why do you think that since player salaries have gone up so have ticket prices? Face the facts....most athletes are just SPOILED. They are getting paid multi-millions and some are b****ing about the smallest things. The reality is most athletes dont realize how easy they have it. I dont see how you can defend them.

where do you base the athletes being over paid? do you know how much revenue professional sports generate and how much of that goes to the athletes? you really think their job is easy? is just not about showing up for a game.. its competing, the travel, the conditioning, etc..
