I think the reason why in college he had better rebounding numbers is because he probably relied on his athleticism. In the NBA, that strategy isn't going to be as effective because there are equally as athletic players that can match him. You need fundamentals. And I've noticed that when he runs into the paint for a rebound, he doesn't find a man to box out.

He did a good job. He didn't have to face any pressure defense though.
I thought he was the best player for us tonight. He has got a long way to go, but I was pleased with the way he played.

Totally agree - which is why I pointed out his >40% 3pt numbers post all star break...

Based on the fact that he's shown over a number of years that he can shoot in a number of different leagues, should a bad shooting week at summer league be a concern?

    I'd think, no.

Barrera didn't touch the ball enough tonight. But, I still think he has potential and hope the rockets can invite him to the traing camp.

Now that the Summer League is over with here comes the tough decisions to be made by Morey: Who makes the team and which player(s) will be traded?

really then what do you plan on doing with everyone else d- leaguers are part of the 15 man roster, so this is what your roster looks like.

    1. yao
    2. tmac
    3. rafer
    4. scola
    5. battier
    6. brooks
    7. landry
    8. bjax
    9. harris (still under contract)
    10. head
    11. greene-nbadl
    12 dorsey-nbadl
    13. berry
    14. mutumbo
    15. francis
    16. chuck hayes
    17. luenen
    18. novak-nbadl
for some odd reason the NBA only lets you have 15 people some how your numbers don't match up. Come on man, are you kidding me?

    9. harris - may get cut due to numbers
    10. head - should be traded for pick
    11. greene-nbadl
    12 dorsey-nbadl
    13. barry
    14. mutumbo - may not be re-signed after all
    15. francis - probably done - but roster spot guaranteed
    16. chuck hayes - may be traded, but very valuable as 3rd string PF
    17. luenen - should be on the team ahead of Novak but won't - no room.
    18. novak- Hopefully traded, players in their 3rd year can not go to NBDL

Some tough decisions to make there.

We shouldn't have picked up Novak's option this summer, unless we think he is valuable enough as a trade asset.

Well I like Novak, and his 3 point shooting was much needed. But he just hasn't learned to play defense necessary to be on the court much longer.

It's frustrating because we all know how good he could be if he just played adequate NBA defense.

If he is on the Team next season will be a testament as to how much his game has improved, because his game of last year will not get him on this current team.

I actually like his 3pt shooting in the pros more than his summer league. He seemed to improve greatly throughout the season, he went from 28.8% pre-allstar to 41.7%. In the summer league, he shot only 20.0%.

I wanted to start a thread about this but since I got demoted to rookie status I can't.

isnt leunen just gonna be another novak?

and novak can shoot 45% in NBA...leunen cant even do that in summer league...

and novak tore up the summer league a couple of years ago

can someone start a thread for it?

there is a difference in summer league he has to help shoulder the scoring load in regular season he only get the open ones.

Actually Novak shot even worse than Leunen. Leunen is the slightly better moving and smarter version.

    Leunen
    16.0 pts
    43.8% 3pt
    4.8 rbg

    Novak
    16.0 pts
    42.9% 3pt
    4.4 rbg

I still don't like his summer league performance. Face it, 20% is bad.
