cant believe people forgot about dahntay jones <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/zDAiu9LXO6A&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/zDAiu9LXO6A&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>
no he doesn't compare his game to tmacs he thinks he is more rashard lewis type but experts compare him to tmacs. i hate the word chucker by the way. number one scorer on SL. still scores it at 45% hard to beat for a chucker right?
That vid poster's got some weird fascination with making Yao look bad showing the same dunk 20 times in one clip. Yao got dunked on there and it was a good play by Dahntay Jones but it wasnt as bad as it was made out to be. Yao got elbow pushed from the side by Tsakalidas or whoever that was, with his body carrying him away from the dunk.
He said he like to emulate Rashard Lewis game not T-Mac. But if a shooter is open he need to shoot that is what is there for, he was just missing. Many times if you don't take the open shoot you end up getting a worst shoot that the one you pass or creating a 3 sec violation for a guy who is going for the offensive rebound. If you can't shoot don't stand on the 3 point line, because if you get the pass and you are open you better make them. Then you can drive pass to the basket if the defensive player go and contest or out of P&R or hard cuts.
Exactly 90% of the credit go to Big Jake who block/push Yao out of the way to let Jones go to the basket.
He's gotten to the line an average of 8 times per game, more than any other Rocket. At the same time, I do get the feeling that he is reluctant to be aggressive and does settle for outside shots. I can see why scouts listed this as one of his weaknesses despite the contradictory stats through 3 SL games.
To be accurate, Jerryd Bayless is the leading scorer. Greene is 2nd. On the other hand, Greene is leading in FGA and of the top 10 scorers, he has the lowest FG%. I think it is fair to say he's chucked a few up there but he will learn to settle down soon enough. He can get away with it in SL but he sure as hell won't get away with it when he's playing for real.
When you are 3rd in MPG you should have more FGA. And FGA doesn't tell the true. Bayless FGA is 14 Greene FGA is 17, you can think Greene takes more shoot but the true is that Bayless go to the line 18 + Per game while Greene only 7 and when you get foul there is not FGA unless is an And 1. FG% of Bayless and Kevin Love are 45 while Donte is 44 and 38 from 3 not bad, actualy pretty good from perimeters rookies in DL. And his doing better than rookie 1st team Al Thornton and future star Rodney Stuckey.
This weakness will persist unless he improves his ball handling. It may be adequate for the SL but it won't be enough for the regular season. If he does develop confidence in his ability to drive,it will be interesting to see if he can forgo his urge to jack up an outside shot. I feel it's going to take a long time before we get to see that.
i am talking about on our team he is the number one, if i the best scorer on the court i would put up just as many shots. like i said if you take a shot in the designed offense, you should not be a chucker! he is running tmacs spot coming off screens. yeah he has alot to learn than turning and firing but oh so much he will learn from tmac nice post though brookball
Did anybody see how we got a player at 2nd in all three rankings? Greene, 25.3 #2 in scoring Dorsey, 13.5 #2 in rebounds Brooks, 7.0, #2 in assists
You didn't know? It's because we are destined to win the championship this year. Early championship celebration is tomorrow!
While I'm not as big a fan of Brooks as some, we should be very pleased with his development. If he could just grow 4 or 5 inches taller... With some NBA coaching on Rockets-style defense, the skills that Greene and Dorsey have shown make this draft look like gold. When Greene develops better decision-making on when to shoot and when to drive, and when he is taught some defense to round out his game, look out. With NBA coaching on his interior defense, Dorsey will become a solid contributor. He already seems to have a natural instinct for pulling down rebounds. Some of these things will take care of themselves when they start running a tighter version of the offense and focus on defense. The summer leagues seem to play a more wide-open game to see what these kids can do skill-wise.
I actually think that all 3 could make opening day roster, especially if someone is traded, which is very likely. Yao, Scola, Battier, T-Mac, and Alston Landry (could be signed away), Mutombo (not sure), Hayes (could be traded) That's only 8 spots. Jackson Francis Head Novak Dorsey Greene Brooks Pick 4 from above. There's a good chance Greene and Dorsey will be here on the opening day roster.
Actually I would pretty much bet my bottom dollar that they will be on the 15 man opening day roster. Morey has already said that he's going to make roster positioning moves. That means he wants to sign those two guys to get them in the system to develop. Edit: I just realized that you are only choosing 12? why? there will be 15 names on the opening day roster. And you missed Barry.
Hey everyone. I just checked the boxscores and saw that my boy Panchi Barrera got some minutes this game. How did he do? I also saw Dorsey dominating (according to the boxscore) the paint. I'm a Magic fan and we were very high on him prior to the draft. I think he can help the Rockets a lot. Brooks had a great game too, will he be the backup PG? Who are the projected PGs behind Alston?
