Very funny that crash5179 of all people is formulating hypothetical reasons to blame JVG for not upgrading the roster by not trading Howard when he was the same guy who fought to the death last summer to tell me how well set the Rockets were with Juwan Howard at PF rather than with a stiff like Al Jefferson - I mean he practically told us that Howard was "All the Rockets Need" ....

The Battier trade is good one later on, was not good during the trade. If it is on Morey, he did a good job on this one, I see he will be a good GM in the Rox.

Battier trade was good but you cannot say JVG had no control over personnel on the team, we were the retirement home for washed up Knicks for 3 years or do you not remember?

Battier is at an avg of $6.4MM from the trade through 2011. Swift averages $5.8MM from the trade through 2009 (assuming he picks up his PO, and looking at his performance, I don't see how he can afford not to) and Gay around $2.5MM through 2010. Over the first 3 years, the ROX save about 2-2.5 million per year.

As for your last statement, as the ROX did not intend to draft Gay, it comes down to deciding if it is worth spending an extra $2.5MM to have Sefolosha and Swift instead of Battier. I'll take Battier.

Not apples to apples because the RocketS never intended on picking Sefalosha at #8. Had Gay not fallen to #8, they IMO would have worked a trade down with CHI or PHI. The start salary is ~$1m lower for 13 than 8.

But beyond that, you've made a big deal about $2.5m...if things were that tight that would have waived Sura @ $3.8m. I still feel it was never about $.

One decent decision does not a resumé make. (And decent is in the eye of the beholder -- Les apparently thought we should have gotten more in that trade.) The jury will be out on Morey for another couple of years, probably. The thing we don't know is how much control of personnel decisions Adelman asked for when interviewing for the job and what agreement he got. I doubt if he got final say. After all Morey was Alexander's pick. His opinion will carry substantial weight until he displeases Les. ;)

I don't think Morey can claim a "track record" yet. Statistical analysis can't guarantee making a crucial play at crunch time, when a season may be on the line.

All we can do is hope for the best and wait and see. The draft will be our first look at the Adelman-Morey-Lindsey perspective on the Rockets future. Then offseason moves will flesh it out some. It may take more than this year to get an "Adelmnan" vision here.

Yeah! Why go backward when they can look forward to the era of Adelman first round exits?

Need better players? Haven't you heard? I thought that JVG was the problem, not the players. Isn't Adelman supposed to be able to unleash all of that pent-up basketball talent on this team that JVG stifled and squandered? Since it was JVG holding the team back, why should they need better players?

    dang, i forgot.

battier will finally be able to use his offensive skills and avg 18ppg. Finally jvg will not hold tmac back from becoming a crunch time, big game player. With jvg gone vspan can be manu off the bench and chuck will finally be able to show off his mid range shooting and he will be allowed to grow to 6'10. Snyder will be smarter and now he can actually understand whats going on on the court.

    hang the banner now!
