How can anyone think that these Trades would benifit the Rockets? If the Cat plays the 6th.man coming off the bench , he will be a great boost to the Team. He just needs to attempt high percentage shots and pass on the low percentage ones. Remember the Cat is a scoring machine when he is on form.Cato is going to play an even more important role this season and it will be good for Yao Mings development. The only one that needs to be moved is Moochie and Amaechi .Keep the dogs of New York in New York!
This is a horrible trade! Cato has finally started playing our money's worth and now you want to trade him for a guy that passed his prime?! Forget it! ALA
Do you guys not think that Penny Hardaway was a big factor in Pheonix finishing strong down the stretch. I don't see how you guys can be so against this, its not a slam dunk by any means either way, but to have so much praise for a back up center who makes $7 million a year.
Like I said when I first started this thread, it was labeled as a rumor and nothing else. Some others stated that it was an email but this morning at around 9:50-9:55, they mentioned the rumor again and just left it at that. They did not mention anything about an email. The main picture was involving Penny. With all the injuries that have occurred lately especially with the Suns Joe Johnson, dont be surprised if something crazy happens That Rice deal is still a shock. itzIce
Cato was a rebounding machine last year, something that Meech definately is not. I know that Kurt Thomas would strengthen that a tad, but in the original trade, getting only a guard (on a Guard heavy team) while giving up our most efficient rebounder would just be silly. I think that Cato, packaged with Mobley and Griffin/Taylor (and/or Moochie), would bring some interest from some eastern conference teams but we would have to get a strong perimiter defender to play SF or SG leaving JJ to man the other wing. We would also have to receive a starting caliber PF in return, someone who doesn't look for his own shot and is primarily concerned with rebounding and defense (a la Cato + PF speed). That still ignores our need for a superior backup point (Wilks?). If a deal like that were to happen (and only if all those considerations are met SHOULD a deal happen) I think that it would happen closer to the trade deadline than now. I think you'll see people being showcased for trade and if we're in the hunt come deadline time, we'll pull the trigger.
If Penny Hardaway stays healthy throughout the year, and he runs the point for this team, then the Rockets will improve a great deal. If they could trade for.. say a Kurt Thomas, or Brian Grant.. as well, then the Rockets are one of the top teams in the west -before the season even begins. (fantasy head on) P. Hardaway Francis Yao Jackson Grant hallelujah! praise naismith
Screw point forward. Penny can play point guard like he did when he took the Magic to the NBA Championship.
