    Good point...

p.s. I went to high school with Jake Voskuhl... at some of our keg parties he would act like he was smoking a cigarette and not inhale... I remember him missing close range shots and he would not dunk... Thank God we had Calvin Murphy Jr. also on our team.

Don't you think it is even more imparitive to get someone that is a proven leader on the floor and understands how to run the point?

so a competitor of ours, the suns, really needs a center and we're going to give them a legitimate center (not great but legitimate no doubt) while we don't need a shooting guard, but we're going to take a shooting guard, and we're going to use up the trade exception in the process?

penny gets injured a lot it seems, and he's severely declined from his peak. he can get the job done when healthy, but better than cat? no. even if you argue from the he's the pg, guards the sg's POV, then we're wasting cat's talents while not having a good backup C anymore. and if you're trading cat after this, then penny is old enough/injury prone enough that he's not going to be here long term and we're still going to need a sg at some point. seems completely stupid from the rockets POV especially since we fill a need for pho and relieve them of some salary.

At 6'7 Penny could still play some point forward. If Jim Jackson can, I don't see why Penny couldn't.

    this trade isnt that bad

i am just worried about penny's health

    lineup

    penny/mobley/norris (cheerleader)
    franchise/pike
    j. jackson/a.griffin/
    griffin/taylor
    yao/voshul/amachei

i think mobley can a great spark off the bench and play the pg or sub in mobley for jackson, and stevie at the 1, mobes at the 2, and penny at the 3

JVG is a sly fox, when he said Cato was the only player he's been impressed with so far, that was put out there for all the GM's and coaches throughout the league to hear.

Like I said before, I wouldnt mind bringing in Penny because he has the floor general attributes and that would help out by moving Steve at the 2 in most situations. This past summer, a huge number of C.Citiers were pressing about how Stevie should move to the 2 to exploit his scoring abilities and bring some proven PG to take the pass-first responsibilities, now we have reason to take this rumor and maybe consider it.

But I feel that Cato would be more valuable in the East instead of the West according to some of yall. If we have already thought of that then there must be some phone calls being made around the league right now involving Cato or even Mobley. It seems that the East with few proven big men like J. Oneal, B. Wallace, T. Ratliff, Z. Illgauskas, need some big men on their side. I wouldnt be surprised if Cato gets traded for some quality backup at either PG or PF/C or maybe get another pure shooter.

    couple of things:

    1. We would never try to help out a team we're so directly competing with.
1a. This trade would help them tons more than us. - Big Jake is a stiff. Penny's best days are FAR behind him.

    2. As others have stated, this seems to have started from an email from a listener. Not the most reliable source.

    3. I'd bet most of my money (admittedly not much) that Hardaway will never make it through a season injury-free again. He'll miss a significant portion of the season.

    4. See number 1. The Suns f'd themselves a little this summer, why should we dig them out of the hole?

Note, too, how Coop and what's-his-face at halftime seem to be in on it. "Kelvin this, Kelvin that, Kelvin good, not bad, Kelvin hustle," etc.

Penny, though? How many years left? At least he would be close to his doctors in Houston when his knee goes out.

Someone drive past Cat's house and see if Mr Hip Flexor rented a U-Haul.

Question: How many seasons of the last 7 has Penny been injury free?

    Answer: 1, the strike-shortened 98-99.

    Great.

What's with all the stupid trade speculation by people?

We have enough new players. Griffin, Pike, Jackson, Ameachi...

This team needs time to gel more than anything. No new players.

Chemistry is the most important thing.

i will go crazy if we do that trade. why would we trade a good backup center for Penny hardaway (how many games has he played the last 3 years?) and another scrub, and in the proces lets give our biggest cmpetition the one thing they need, a center. yeah great deal:rolleyes:

First we help Utah, now we help the Suns? Bad trade for us if it happens.

I'd love to get Penny, despite his enormous contract. He would be a GREAT compliment to this team. He knows how to feed the post and play both backcourt positions equally well.

This trade would become even better if we traded Mobley over to Utah for Harpring.

    Yao/Jake/Amaechi
    MoT/Griff/Amaechi
    Harpring/JJ/Boki
    Penny/Pike/JJ
    Francis/Moochie

MoT, Harpring andPenny ALL shoot a VERY high% on their FG's, which would make things SO much easier on the rest of the team. Also, JJ and Pike is great coverage for Penny. Aside from all that, JJ would make a GREAT sixth man.

Sane... I've never seen you use that many greats in a row. I would do this trade if it was Penny before the injuries, but now I just keep thinking: AGriff injury, Pike injury, MoT injury, Cat supposed injury, EG weeded out again, Moochie brain injury, now Penny injury? If Yao gets tired by the end of the season we're screwed.
