I'd like to add, I HIGHLY DOUBT that they'll make this announcement to say he's done, especially to schedule a workout. Where's the sense in that. I think he's back but for a leadership role,I just don't want us to overhype him and think he's a savior, he's going to be a key intensity player on the bench or on the floor, or scrimmaging with us. He is NOT better than any player besides Tracy and Yao, at 50%, he's not going to be a starting SG, cause right now that's Shane or Tracy's spot, and he's not going to be a key spot in our rotation if we want to win. He'll be a huge key in terms of helping the young guys, go over some coaching, being a pep talker, being a huge practice player. If that's what he's going to be, which I expect, I'm going to be more than thrilled.
To explain the excitement, Sura was the glue that held the 04-05 Rockets together. His impact cannot be measured in the stat-sheet alone . When he was in the team just did better. It was attitude, demeanor, the intangibles. He was an excellent rebounder, not a bad shooter. He drove the lane well, he just sparked the team. My excitement is based on "full recovery." No, he is not an All Star, but within the team, he was.
PG or not Sura flat out helped. He brought a tougher mindset to the court, he was a big guy on the perimeter, and he helped crash the boards(something we tend to overlook cause of when we had Stevie and he was a great rebounder at the guard position, but the more the rebounding, the better it is..there's never enough depth or rebounding or defense)
At general stats, no. At more complicated stats, I say so. It was obvious, he was a 10/5/5 player, very all-around which is true about his game. W/L with and without him, that proves it too..he was a huge IMPACT, I agree with what your trying to say, I'm just trying to say statistically he was an impact as well. Another double digit scorer, 5rpg and 5apg player. Let's not discredit his statistical impact either.
Sura was just on the SportsRadio610 commercial break interviewed today saying he has had "no setbacks". Take that for what it is worth...
there will probably be a chronicle article on it later tonight... hopefully 610 or 790 gets him on the radio
splash! Just kidding. That's great news! I'd take an old, broken-down Sura over Rudy Gay. He's that much of a fan favorite in my house. EDIT: And where's Clutch? You telling me he wouldn't want to be in the presence of Sura?
Pretty cool, pretty cool. with Sura and Snyder in the backourt, no milk drinkers there. I see a lot of physicality and a few confrontations with the opposing teams throughout the year with that backourt. And Spanoulis and Battier, they may look like they drink milk but I don't think they do. So we're losing the milk drinkers. Thats a good thing.
more from interview with sura by dave harbison: the team hasn't given him a timetable, but he wants to decide soon. he doesn't want to handcuff the team if he's not able to play this season. he wants the team to be able to use that money if he can't go.
Amen. That's what I want to hear. I don't him to fool us, or him to fool himself, or us to fool ourselves. If he's capable of going, GO FOR IT BOBBY! If not, let's do whats best for each other.
Sura at 50% is why we went 1-4 against the Mavs after leading 2-0. When he isn't hobbled Sura brings a lot to the table. If he's hurt we don't need him on the floor. A 50% Sura does us no good at all. If, miraculously, he is able to play the full season and playoffs at a high level, this team is a title contender. But we would be foolish to lean on Bobby very much because he could easily go down again.
