Horry really shouldn't be considered for the Rockets if you listen to some people. I thought he had to fit our system? Or was it the new rules next year? ------------------ Sleepless in the Bronx [This message has been edited by Almu (edited May 25, 2001).]
But alot of times when Rudy wants to run he puts Mobley at the three spot at times which could keep Forte at the shooting spot and Francis at the point. Horry, Forte, and Ken Johnson would be nice coming off our bench. Yeah I see. I guess it's just a matter of who you think would be more valuable as the 3rd guard to this team-- Moochie or Forte. I'll take the Mooch, but I could see a case for Forte as well... ------------------ President of the Mo Taylor and Jason Collier fan club! Draftsource.net-- the premier source for draft info. If the Lakers are willing to do a sign and trade for Cato or Walt, it would definitely make things a lot easier. This way, the Rockets would not eat up any cap space that is earmarked for other players. Technically, I think Horry would have to opt out and then the Lakers would have to sign and trade him to the Rockets b/c of the rule aelliott cited about not being able to trade players that can opt out. The Lakers possibly could go for Williams but not Cato. Jerry Buss wants to stay far away from the luxury tax, and the Lakers are starting to get real close to that amount. Walt Williams would provide them with a player on a 1 yr contract that they could wipe off the books after next season. Cato, though, provides an unwiedly contract that they would not even consider imo. Horry would be an ideal stopgap type measure to add defense, outside shooting, championship experience, etc while Dan Langhi is developing. ------------------ Check out the Best Source for Draft Info Draftsource.net
MManal, you are right getting Horry for Williams could be useful for us,but I don't think we should do that because if Horry opts out,he will be looking for even more money then he is making right now and for a longer contract. This will reduce our cap room for years, because we won't be able to move Cato.I think we should pick Richard Jefferson with the 13th pick instead of getting Horry. If a Cato/Horry trade works out it would be great for us but that seems highly unlikely for the reasons that you have already mentioned. ------------------
Saleem, You may be right about Horry wanting more $$$ but I don't think so. He says he's constantly thinking about returning to Houston. I'm sure he must know who we're after. He's separated from his wife and two young kids...has to be hard on a dude. I just think he wants to be home and might accept less than he makes now just to do so. (Actually, he would have to.) But we'll see, I guess. ------------------
