I heard it being discussed as I got in to work and I was under the impression it was just a hypothetical, not an actual rumor that was "out there." I also heard Richard Justice (lol!) on 1560 say that the Rockets don't want Amare and that is why they haven't dealt for him. He said Rick has no desire to deal with Amare.
There is no valid source, I honestly feel if we are going to get Amare it's going to be one of those trades that you wake up and just like "WTF?!?!" Kinda like the Pau trade and other big trades. It might be just randomly in the middle of the season.
Richardson is a great shooter. A guy like that will be more productive in the long run versus a hustle player like Battier.
LOL true story. This is a deal you absolutely have to make if it's on the table. Mcgrady was long gone. I figured Battier was going to be dealt regardless with the signing of Ariza even though we lost Artest. So essentially it's like we're trading Landry for Amare and J-rich. HOUSTON- We get our athletic 4/5 in Amare. - We get a starting calibur SG in J-Rich. - We get younger and more athletic. - We would go from thinking of having to rebuild to reloading over the course of a month. - We start a new era. PORTLAND - I Always thought Battier fit their needs perfectly. Veteran, winner, hard-worker, glue guy, squeeky clean image, team player that can only help Roy, LA, Oden core. - Portland will be competing with the Lakers/Spurs/Mavs in the west for sure. Who better than Battier to put on Kobe, Jefferson, Marion etc. PHOENIX - Gets a total makeover. - Saves a bunch of cap space - New destination for Tmac. Huge gamble but if he pans out and returns from injury it could be a nice trade for them. - Gets a nice piece in Landry - Rudy would be great in Phoenix. I think he'd average 18 ppg over there and become a legit option 2 or 3 for them. This rumor makes too much sense to not be true and happen. All 3 teams are winners. Houston outlook Out: Yao, Mcgrady, Artest, Battier, Landry In: Amare, Richardson, Ariza, Taylor, Buddinger Brooks/Lowry J-rich/Wafer (I was adamant about letting him walk but if this trade goes through I say sign him)/ Jermaine Taylor Ariza/????/ Buddinger Scola/Hayes Amare/????/ Dorsey We still have the same needs basically. Backup center and instead of a starting SG we need a backup SF. We lose some depth but the starting 5 is pretty nice and we can always add pieces to the puzzle easily.
yeah totally agree even tho i have a chinese family name time to move on; cornerstones are supposed to be trustworthy rather than break-easy... then again, Amare has his own health issues
And I thought Morey was really smart. Amare is not the player he used to be, and I still believe that he is not as potent offensively without Nash. Now, defensively? Trading Battier for this lazy traffic cone? Battier should stay with the Rockets while Yao is out, he is the heart and soul of this team.
Lot of smoke around Amare, is there a fire? He is an injury risk But he fills an immediate need and probably good value for TMac Well, if he can be productive for 4-5 more years- great trade If his own microfracture surgery catches up with him- bad gamble Mr. Morey your turn to roll the dice.
I know man threads like these are so annoying, because they are always too good to be true. I am sick of posters trying to pump everybody up on fake stuff
The more I look at this the more sense it makes. Portland definitely believes they are a vet and a perimeter defender away from contending. Battier fits perfectly and as I said earlier, his work against Kobe in round 2 of the playoffs did not go unnoticed. With the Lakers blocking everyone's door to the Finals every team in the West that thinks they can contend believes they need a guy to match up with Kobe defensively. Phoenix just wants Amare and JRich out. $$$$$$ The Rockets fill the SG left by Artest's departure with a guy who is an efficient scorer from all parts of the court. Of course, Amare adds the size as well as bringing more athleticism than Carl Landry ever could. As long as Amare and Richardson don't kill the chemistry (and I think they might) it's a great deal. If Brooks, Lowry and Von (if he stays) continues to grow and if the Rockets defensive philosophy rubs off on the new guys there is no reason to think this team won't be better than last year's squad.
Come on cabbage it's summer can't we have fun and speculate on the "rumors" ? It is a good rumor that makes sense if it were true afterall no?
Some day I hope you'll learn to consider the other teams involved and see things from their perspective because your trade threads seem to involve us getting great players for next to nothing. This deal makes a lot of sense. Fernandez is unhappy they tried to get Hedo, Portland needs a veteran to pair up with Roy and Aldridge. Phoenix is losing money, they need relief as soon as possible. We get a legit big man who can play the 5 and a starting 2 guard. Ariza takes over the 3 from Battier. C: Amare, Hayes, Dorsey PF: Scola, Hayes, Cook SF: Ariza, Budinger SG: Richardson, Taylor, Berry PG: Brooks, Lowry This is how the real world works, it's amazing that we can even turn a broken down McGrady into 2 starters and need positions. You can't just expect to get great players without losing something, unless your trading with the Grizzlies.
this deal sucks. If this deal goes through, we still cant compete with the lakers or spurs. Look at the way Amare speaks and tell me he doesnt seem like a cocky guy. IDK bout him.... is he really what we need or is he a quick fix for the up coming season. Plus when yao comes back , do you see those two playing together ? Keep TMAC , see what he does or does not do, let Yao rest this season, and lets see what happends. Id rather let one season suck than panic and trade for a decent season.
