This is ridiculous. No sane person would agree that JVG would lie about having breakfast with Francis. If he did that he would be throwing his coaching career out of the window.

Steve Francis has gone nuts on us and is coming just short of demanding a trade. Any other spin on this is laughable, give me a break.

Maybe an evil twin of JVG is out to destroy Francis reputation. D'oh!

Francis has been caught in a lie that has made him look ridiculous. Now he's trying to spin it and lay the blame on JVG. I can't believe Francis has taken it as far as he has.

Riiiiight. Of course he couldn't tell anyone about it until the NEXT day? Whatever. Steve doesn't have a mother, father, or any siblings for that matter, what is this 'family' emergency and why doesn't he want anyone to know what part of his 'family' he went to see? I guess its one of those 'secret' families...

Of course it matters, JVG said he specifically talked to Steve in the parking lot at the game. He said Steve was already there when Steve asked. Now, I don't know how JVG would know where Steve is when talking to him, but that's what he said.

If he wasn't at the SuperBowl, his alibi has to be immediately checked out, since that's the accusation.

And that's not to say he's off the hook either.

Honestly, I just can't fathom him skipping the flight to do anything other than attend the game.

Then again, maybe the video footage is of a Super Bowl party gone horribly awry, like runing out of dip!

Just heard Francis on 610 say "well if I was there, the Houston Chronicle had a poll the other day and I was the most popular, so then how come nobody saw me at the superbowl? "and I have survelliance video tape to prove I was at home at the time"

Seems like Francis is trying to set JVG up and get him fired.

I saw him in the superbowl, in the bathroom going to the stall, after the janet incident. or was it after the streaker incident? one or the other. either way I saw him, i was like, "Hey, stevie franchise!!!" and he was like, "Uh, can't talk, really need to go to the, uh toilet."

No, the accusation is that he skipped the team flight to attend the superbowl game. The main point is that he skipped the team flight. Whether he later decided that maybe it was not a good idea to be seen at the superbowl is a different matter.

Van Gundy has absolutely no motive or reason to lie here. I don't know all the facts, but the one who has more of a motive to lie is Steve Francis.

    Dr. Coach Van Gundy,

    The dog ate my homerwork.

I got stuck at a train crossing.

I called you. Didn't you get the message I left?

    Traffic was murder.

    I was sick.

    My grandmother died.

The power went out in my house and my alarm didn't go off.

    Sincerely,

    ExcuseTron2000

    :)

Geez, with all the money SF has you don't think he could make a video if he wanted to?

    This is so dang confusing.....

I think he was not at the game. He wanted to attend it and called JVG at the parking lot of Super Bowl. He thought JVG would give him premission. They had a long discussion/argument on the phone. After JVG angrily hung up the phone, SF realized that he was in a very bad situation. He went back home without watching the game and talked with his agent on the phone about the situation.

Both parties didn't lie about what was happened that day. JVG said SF wanted to skip team flight to attend Super Bowl. SF and his agent said he was at home during the game time. (even that video can prove it). But I think they made up those "family emergency."

windandsea, I think you are exactly right.

And now Francis is trying to weasel his way out of it, instead of being a man and saying "I messed up". If he did that, everyone could move on and that's it. But he is making things worse now. His agent is a bad advisor, it seems. Scumbag lawyers...
