A quick question- Has/Will T-Mac sign his contract extension prior to the deal being officially completed?
Yea thats a good question AggieRocket. If he really wants to win, he'll sign an extension for the least amount of money they can give him. That way it'll be easier for the rockets to get good players to surround T-Mac and Yao with.
We still need a Power Forward, Howard and Taylor Combined = big money & no defense and negative assist to turn over ratio. Other than that i'm sad to see Steve and Cat go, glad Cato's contract is gone but nope happy about Howards and very very happy T-mac is in the house.
lol, I'm just as happy as anybody else in here. We're going kick some serious butt with Yao and T-Mac. The Rockets are definitely going to be in the championship hunt for a long time. It's just that I dont think we're as well rounded as a championship team should be . . . yet . Ditto with OUTITAN's thoughts
I just want to say thanks to The Franchise, The Cat, and Big Cato. They played their hearts out. Welcome T MAC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
uh....power forwards are not normaly judged on their assist numbers.....exactly what relevance does that number have to judge whether or not they are any good? and FYI....not only does Howard play a bit of defense....but from time to time last year...Mo actually appeared to be playing a little also..... I wont argue that we could use a better one....but the possibility of getting rid of Howard, MoT and Spoon isnt exactly something I would put money on. We are going to just have to get a good PG and pray that our PFs dont hurt us too much.
Enjoy McGrady, guys. Mark it down, though - there WILL be tension at some point between Yao and Tracy, regarding the offense, with JVG as the middle man. The Rockets still lack a point guard and desperately need to sign Brent Barry or someone of that caliber or else you are in for a big disappointment. Juwan Howard is a poor fit in your system as well, and Mo Taylor may well be more productive. Really, you are getting the Magic's top three players from last year to go alongside Jim Jackson - comparable to DeShawn Stevenson/Keith Bogans in his old age - and Yao. Depth is still lacking, especially at center, point guard, and the swing positions...not that much better off than the Magic were last year. You all still need two more moves to contend for a title and better hope like no other that JVG can coach this team to the promised land. Granted, Yao is a huge factor, but your roster is otherwise very similar to a 21-61 Orlando Magic roster last year. Good luck out West. TMac is not a leader, so it's time for Yao to step up and become one. I'm sure he will, but don't expect to go in as favorites for the title. I'm just waiting for someone to post the Chad Ford article and everyone to jump all over it praising him for having the foresight to put the Rockets in as WC champs....all while bashing everything else he's done. Once again, enjoy TMac. He'll fill the arena and the scoring column alright. He won't fill the leadership quota and maybe not the wins quota, either.
i was never a rockets fan always a francis fan! i hope things work out for the rockets and T-Mac gives them what they want. i understand that this is a business but from all accounts that i've read the houston franchise handled the deal in very non-professional way. let's just keep in mind what goes around comes around. i've read your postings for some time now and i've noticed more times than i care to mention that people said that both steve and cat were b****es and complained alot. maybe that'a true, but no matter how you feel about his performance this year you have to admit that steve and cat both scarificed the game that they play for the betterment of the team. i'm sure armchair quaterbacks will disagree, but it's true. maybe this is what's best for all involved, maybe steve and cat will grow as well as the houston franchise feels that they are. i only hope that in the event that T-Mac does not make it to the play-offs next year he won't want to jump ship here like he's done to orlando. i also hope that the team does not **** on him like they did steve and cat. and my sincere prayer is that T-mac does not fall into the rockets hype. he should remember that people build you up to let you down.
Wow mfclark, you go from saying the Rockets had no chance of getting McGrady to basically trying to compare our roster to the Orlando Magic. I'm curious, did Orlando have a 7-5, All-Star center on the roster last year?
Really, you are getting the Magic's top three players from last year to go alongside Jim Jackson - comparable to DeShawn Stevenson/Keith Bogans in his old age - and Yao. Take a look at "old man" Jimmy Jackson's numbers last year. Only and idiot would compare Jimmy Jackson to DeShawn Stevenson and Keith Bogans. I'm sorry mfclark, your post just comes off as sour grapes.
Word. How did this trade go from horrible for the Magic to horrible for the Rockets overnight? Cheer up, mfclark. By your reckoning - since you pretty much discount Yao's influence - you just got 3/5 of the starting lineup of a Western playoff team. Contrary to everything you've had to say about this thread in the past, by your new logic you're a lock for the EC playoffs. p.s. We ain't gonna be the Magic plus Yao (already a pretty big plus, whatever you think) and Mo. We haven't yet begun to deal. Your bozo GM definitely held us back, stringing out a trade that's been done for over a week, but he didn't make it to the moratorium. And CD isn't finished yet. He'll have a pretty easy time convincing FA's to come to what's now one of the most attractive teams in the league.
Just tired of seeing the ball dumped into Taylor, he shimmies, he shakes he loses the ball... A little defense doesn't cut it against Garnett, Dirk, Sheed, and Duncan... hell it didn't even cut it against whats left of Malone. We've got scoring, just need a nasty garbage man at the 4 spot now to clean boards. And Howard managed just a little defense in the East, except for Detroit and Indiana that is still the leastern conferance. I agree that Point is now more pressing, but I worry more about the paint with the way JVG runs the game, though that may change with TMac taking scoring pressure off Yao.
