such a great day for rockets basketball and the city of houston YESSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I second that. Especially #2. There's always gonna be kind of an empty feeling when we win without them for me. They were here for at least 5 years, and they've gotten us to where we are kinda. Oh well
Hey Chris, you didn't by any chance go to Bellaire did you? (sorry its off topic, was just wondering)
Finally shows up on the AP... ____________ Magic, Rockets Swap Seven Players 9 minutes ago Add Sports - AP to My Yahoo! HOUSTON - Tracy McGrady was traded to the Houston Rockets (news) in a multiplayer deal that sent Steve Francis to the Orlando Magic (news) on Tuesday. The long-anticipated deal also sent forward Juwan Howard, and guards Tyronn Lue and Reece Gaines to the Rockets. The Magic also got guard Cuttino Mobley and forward Kelvin Cato. The trade, announced by the Rockets, was finalized after Francis' meeting with Magic general manager John Weisbrod in Orlando on Tuesday. McGrady, a two-time NBA scoring champion, now joins 7-foot-5 Yao Ming to form one of basketball's most intriguing tandems. McGrady, tired of carrying a mediocre franchise, vowed to exercise the opt-out clause that was to go into effect at the end of next season. But the Magic did not want him to leave without the team receiving compensation — like Shaquille O'Neal did eight years ago. Francis, a three-time All-Star, averaged 16.6 points, 5.5 rebounds and 6.2 assists last season to join Oscar Robertson, Magic Johnson and Grant Hill as the only players in league history to average at least 15 points, five rebounds and five assists in each of their first five years. Francis, Mobley and Yao led the Rockets to the playoffs last season for the first time in five years. Houston lost to the Los Angeles Lakers (news) in the first round. But Francis, who flourished in an up-tempo offense for the past four years, was put on the summer trading block after posting the worst numbers of his career in new coach Jeff Van Gundy's slower-paced offensive scheme.
The very hateable Chad Ford just did an interview on ESPNRadio, where he had the following comments: -There's no question Houston got the better end of the deal. -Their backcourt was a little undersized. -Orlando inherits a backcourt Houston couldn’t win with. -TM has never had as strict a coach as JVG, and JVG has never had as talented a scorer. This is going to be an adjustment for both. You don’t trade for TM and then ask him not to score. Houston needs him to average 25 a game. TM will have to change his habits, such as skipping practices. JVG won’t put up with it. People close to him all feel he’ll respond to a coach pushing him. People in Orlando are predicting TM will have giant year. -SF is closer to AI than a true PG. You saw it when JVG asked him to getball to YM, he put up career worst numbers. Good news – Orlando has no such player. He’ll be back to style where he was more successful, scoring 25 a night. Orlando has insinuated they are not done dealing. They're still looking to move Cato and Mobley. You can’t have a backcourt that measures 6’2” on both sides. Will someone tell me why Ford is convinved Francis and Mobely are both 6'2"?!?!?!? They're both taller than that, aren't they?!
What did I tell you guys: T-MAC would beome a Rocket today! I knew that is why Steve was going to Orlando.
On ESPN-News, the writer from Orlando, B. Schmitz, reported that Francis has not even physically met with the Magic yet. All this crap from Wiesbrod that they needed to meet before the deal went down, as we all knew, was a bunch of crap.
I can see it now! Free Big Macs wenever T-Mac scores his usual 40. Welcome to H-town T-Mac! Whoo-hoo! itzIce
