Says this is gonna be the toughest game for the team to date.....4th game in 5 nights.....and at altitude. DD
the shane question must have been asked by kwame or leebigez "Do you think Shane would be better off the bench, cause he doesn't do much"
you had a great point DD, I wanted to ask about aaron's defense and how that will play a role in who ultimately gets the starting nod
dang it! Client came in just as Morey started talking. Sigh. Now I have to wait for the podcast. Glad you got in to talk DD.
It's on the front page now. Here's a direct link: http://www.sportsradio610.com/topic/play_window.php?audioType=Episode&audioId=3551052
RECAP All the bigs played well last night, especially Carl & Scola were a big lift. Barnagni was a tough matchup; Okur is a similar problem, Milsap & Boozer are both good shooters too. Toronto a unique matchup w/ good shooting bigs. Scola is our MVP this season. Figures out what we need each night and makes it happen. Invented some new moves last night against Bosh. Lowry & Brooks will share the court sometimes when the other team goes small. Switch assignments on defense. Can be a good offensive weapon w/ quickness. Contain Deron by making him a scorer, his passes usually lead to high % shots. Landry getting offensive rebounds, getting better defensively, fell in love w/ blocks too much and missed some rebounds. Carl can watch Scola to improve. Young players are contributing, goes through ups & downs, but the future is bright. James White - surprised he was available. Insurance at the wing spot. Can guard multiple positions, very athletic. Teams wrote him off but he's paying his dues now and he's a likely NBA player. Player development personnel Sean Respert in great shape, great shooter, probably a better player now than before, keeps guys focused. Analyze the number of back to backs each team has, if it's fair. NBA trying to even it out, Houston is around the average. Toughest stretch coming up. Tough teams on back to backs. Memphis has always given us trouble too. Lowry goes through learning phase figuring out when to pass to Yao, etc. Pushes it in transition like we ask him to do, gives us a lift off the bench. Von Wafer works hard, doesn't give up, comes in early, was a longshot in camp but proves what hard work does. White wasn't focused on the team, didn't work much, but has turned it around. Has a chance to contribute. CALLER QUESTIONS: Will White get the same opportunity as Lowry? It will be difficult because it's late in the season, making a playoff push, the position is deep. Will probably see time if Rockets in a bad position - injuries. Adelman losing sleep minimizing Yao's weakness on defense? Yao's not great at defending pnr. He has to punish them on the other end. Yao has to attack single coverage instead of passing out. He turned it around in the 2nd half. Team will be upset if Yao doesn't shoot. Shane coming off the bench, he doesn't do a lot? Guys have to guard Shane because of his shooting, spaces the floor, defenders are underrated. Part of the 2 headed monster that stopped Lebron. Barry and Von took Head's minutes away. Rockets wanted to look at White, Head wants to get PT, mutually beneficial that Head leaves. Rockets have the 2nd best record against the best teams (Lakers 1st). Shows the Rockets have a good shot at advancing, home court advantage would be good. Playoff race in the west is exciting for fans. Dadakota - How to make Brooks aggressive from the start? He's at his best when attacking, can create for others and draw fouls. He's young, still progressing, sometimes 2 steps forward 1 step back. He wants to be a facilitator, but we have to remind him he creates best when he attacks. Brooks may take a few shots in a row, then feel he has to reign it in and spread the ball w/ the veterans. Our veterans don't care, we want him to keep being aggressive.
