at this point in time, with all the confusion surrounding T-mac, even a T-mac for Marbury sounds good. i seriously doubt Rockets fans will ever trust him with what he have done so far this season. i strongly believe he should have informed the team about his injury status instead of telling it to Stephen. thats just not right, he let the team and the fans down. goodbye T-Mac, it was nice having you around.
He didn't miss it on purpose, and I don't think anyone has ever suggested that. He has said multiple time throughout the season that believed he would be back this year. That we'd see a "vicious T-Mac", and he'd "have the last laugh", etc. Just words? Maybe. Then again ... maybe all the latest talk about needing microfracture surgery are just words too. The guy has lost his credibility long ago, because he's constantly changing his tune. I mean, he comes back from 2 weeks off and says this time he's going to be fully committed. A few weeks later, he has a bad game, and now he's talking about shutting down for the year because things haven't improved. Aren't fans justified in questioning him?
what was his trade value BEFORE all the microfracture surgery stuff? a bag of peanuts? like feign said, this microfracture surgery stuff didn't lower his value anymore than it already is. he was a player who struggled mightily this year making $21 mil. no one is taking that on knowing he has $22 mil next year before expiring. next year even with surgery, he'll be valuable regardless b/c he's an expiring.
no, for 5 games after he came back the 2ND TIME, i saw a more purposeful tmac attempting to do things he hasn't done all year. i saw he was incapable of doing NOTHING still with his left knee (tried to dunk in traffic with his left knee first v. NY, the ball barely got over the rim. tried the dunk again off his left knee v. milwaukee -> got blocked by the rim. more importantly, he tried to do a cross-over with the left knee in the chicago game also and his left knee just BUCKLED--the play with the pass to scola). how do you explain those plays? he tried to cut more, dunk more.... but he can't seem to do it. he can still do it with his right knee though. so it's not just words. he did try hard to fulfill his words the 2nd time around. he just can't. i have seen him tried to do things with his left knee. he still can't do it. again, the team may force him to play (opposite of the marbury treatment) after this b/c he's a big investment. BUT HE'S NOT GOING TO BE A TOP PLAYER. move on. forget about tracy mcgrady for this year. tracy has obviously looked forward to the future.
guys this is microfracture surgury, I think its a huge huge ass risk for Mcgrady for choosing this choice, if you really think his a prima donna you got problems. First of all he has to COME back from it next year, his contract year. Microfracture surgury is typically insane to recover from with a guy of his age profile. For him to choose this option is a big choice for him, the number of failures and success are around 50 50 for elite NBA athletes. Its really up to him, I don't doubt him but its going to be a big ask for him to not be finished as a player, Penny or Allan Houston anyone?
You really really need to stop defending this guy. Your wasting your time. Any intelligent fan can see Tracy has lost some of his athletism due to age (29 and thats still young) and lack of motivation for rehabbing his injuries and overall work ethic. The problem is Tracy is to weak mentally to make the changes necessary to his game to move on with his career and he obviously can't deal with it. The skills he's lost, most players in the league never had them in the first place. He came into to training over weight and out of shape and that is on him for not doing what he was suppose to in protecting himself and the franchise. We went from watching him play every other game (and pretty much making his own descision for that) to now I'm out for the season (descision made on his own as well) to eventually I can still play. Also T-Mac has no heart.
and this is why god invented freaking rehab. it was tracy's choice to slack on it in the offseason. and now he can't play. big freaking surprise.
i never said his athleticism didn't decline. but it should be so bad where he'll get blocked by the damn rim. just last yr, his athleticism was fine. and he still can jump off his right knee just damn fine. yes, i've documented my thoughts on his mental psyche and it's weak. but the ultimate thing is: his left knee is not straight right now. i can say whatever about it. you guys can say whatever about it. the ultimate thing is his left knee isn't right.
That's kind of silly. The possibility of a micro-fracture surgery would obviously lower his trade value. It's the difference between getting a guy with a bad but soon to be expiring contract who could give you something on the court, and getting a guy with a bad but soon to be expiring contract who'll give you literally nothing on the court. Bucher reported that the Rockets were shopping McGrady to New Jersey, and they didn't like the deal because of his worsening injury situation. The Rockets and their dutiful mouthpiece Mr. Feigen deny that, predictably, but that doesn't mean it didn't happen.
Almost, but it does not create new cartilage. It creates scar tissue that is intended to act as a poor man's cartilage. It is not a solution, only a band aid solution. It does not strengthen the knee, it prevents bone-on-bone interaction.
the funny (not funny but you know what i mean) part of it is that tracy was also "conspicuously injured" last year as we got close to the trade deadline. and then afterward he miraculously came back and finished out the streak. he seems to like to sabotage his trade value.
Maybe he should try listening to the doctors and actually DO THE REHAB on the knee, huh? What is more funny is people that fail to make that connection and continue to give Tracy "Peter crying Wolf" McGrady the benefit of the doubt. DD
He was stilling capable of playing well and helping the team, even if he couldn't do anything with his left knee. That's what we all saw. So what has changed between then and now, in terms of pain? Nothing, apparently. He's just frustrated it hasn't improved. Maybe if he stuck with it, and kept pushing himself for a number of weeks, instead of just a mere handful of games, he'd start to see some of improvement.
he wasn't helping the team on defense. and he can't do a lot of the playmaking. we're better without the tracy we've played with all year. let's move on without him. it's that simple. he's looking out for his contract year. let him do that.
Why wouldn't Tmac inform his employer about 'shutting it down' first? Maybe he was venting to SAS, made some dramatic statements (wouldn't be the first time), and SAS ran w/ it. I wouldn't be surprised if Tmac backtracked and did some damage control of his own - 'SAS misunderstood our conversation,' reiterate the company line, etc.
Stop changing history. his knee injury a year ago occured on December 23rd(@ Det) and he returned on Jan 19(vs. SA)....a month before the deadline. He didn't miraculously come back from anything...came back coming off the bench.
becasue any trade involving him and his big contract, will mean him going to a crappy team and possibly spend the rest of his career there no good team has the cap to take on $23 mill and thinks that Tmac is the missing piece to a championship.
TMac leaked this to Steven A. because he knows he has a big mouth, and his credibility is not good, so TMac can later say he was misquoted. After the trade deadline, TMac will say he told Steven A. that he might be out for the rest of the season, he might need microfracture, but now the doctors tell him he can play through it.
I'm getting really tired of the Rockets organisation and the whole situation with Tracy. From Leslie Alexander down to Rick Adelman, everybody has done a poor job with Tracy this year. A good organisation and coach would take measures when any player, "all-star" or not, come in at the beginning of the season out of shape. It doesn't matter he had surgery, he did not rehab so therefor should be forced to sit down. He has hurt the team 90% of the times he's played this year so never should've played in the first place. A heavy fine would do some good too maybe. Then when he was trying to play one night of a back-to-back, decides to play on the day itself etc, RA or whoever should just sit his ass down !! Again a fine would've definetly been in place when he decided to leave his teammates out to dry in Toronto, Milwaukee etc. Hold this guy responisble for his freaking actions, he's no God, he's no saint, he's just a freaking basketball player who's been babied by every organisation / team / coach he's played for. Now, mainly the fans and teammates of Tracy have to suffer the consequences which is a real pity. I hope Tracy is really out for the season and if not, igets fined for his stupid remarks to Steven A. Smith, is forced to rehab and try to come back for the play-offs or next year but he definetly should not play anymore during the regular season. He shouldn't even be allowed to play in the playoffs for the way he's been behaving but Leslie loves this guy so much it's not going to happen. I was so happy when he was out, now I'm bummed.... This guy, and the organisation, is ruining what should've been the best season since 96-97 !!!!!!!!
