When we think about superstars, we think about offense. But it is telling that Morey believes the "closer" we need now is not on offense but on defense. But then on defense, making a stop is not just one player's job but the whole team's. That's why Boston has been so good even though their superstars aren't as good offensively as they were in their prime.

Kyle is tough, if there is any chance that he can play, he will.

It can't just be one closer, either. With Boston, KG was their best defender, Perkins was excellent, but it took all 5 guys, including Ray Allen and Eddie House, guys who aren't known for their D, working together and being committed to being the right place at the right time, to avoid defensive breakdown. Otherwise, KG and Perk can defend their ass off and somebody can still get loose for an open 3.

It is also an accountability issue....Rick needs to hold everyone accountable, if they are not going to do it, put in the next guy.

I didn't mean it was unusual for us to hit those free throws. I just think we won't always (actually very difficult) get so many FT opportunities even though most of the foul calls yesterday were legitimate. Very few NBA referees are Rockets fans.

I agree the defense is way worse and offense will get better. Hopefully our defense will improve as well with Lowry coming back and Yao being more effective.

We are all aware of that this team is lacking of good closers. So I just want to see other shooters in the team getting more chances in offense when a game is running toward the end and the opponents are tightening up their defense.

Great read. A lot of insight into how this organization is run and what they may do in the future.

I don't think anyone is looking to Lowry for salvation, but considering we just lost two games by two and four points, I think it's reasonable to think Kyle Lowry could have made up that difference on both nights. As much as everyone was enamored with Ish Smith in the preseason, let's not forget that one of these players has a brand new $6m/yr contract and the other was an Erick Dampier phone call away from taking his talents to RGV.

Safe to say he was one of the top 4-5 PGs in that draft Morey tried to trade up for where he allegedly offered Brooks and Battier?
