We don't need the curse back.

It's time for the Rockets to look for a real PF. It's been too long that this team had a guy standing on the perimeter looking NOT to rebound, and doesn't mean much on defense, along with some mediocre offense.

Let some other team take on the curse.

The Rox don't have anymore money to sign a real PF, JHO will at least be on the cheap.

I'll take him for the low. He played well with Yao out last year. Plus he always gives max effort no matter how much he's struggling.

No problem with him as a player, especially if he's gonna see minimum time off the bench, but my real concern is his curse. He seems to doom EVERY team he's played for.

I'm willing to wait until the trade deadline. This team is not built for settling just because.

Morey has more ability than being dragged into this one. Morey needs to be getting rid of a few players and developing our future at the same time.
IMHO it's about time that Howard and Mutombo retired and be satisfied that they have been so fortunate having been paid a HUGE amount of money, for playing a game !! Make room for developing players PLEASE!! :p

Howard ran out of gas last season but he was a primary reason we had a decent record when the main guys went down for extended periods of time.

The major knock was that he shouldn't be starting, playing lots of minutes and his contract was more than he was worth.

Getting him on the cheap as a backup to injury and spot minutes is a luxury. I would consider this another fine move if we managed to pick him up for peanuts. Add in the fact that he was obviously good for some of the younger guys by setting an example in regards to professionalism and I can't see how you pass him up - regardless of his flaws.

I wouldn't mind getting Juwan back as long as he gets no playing time. It'd be even better if he was only wearing suits. he could be the official motivational dingbat for the houston rockets.

there is no "we need to develop players" we have a three year window here to win titles before we take a step back and rebuild around Yao.

If there is no difference than yes go with the young guy but if Juwan is a roster upgrade over a over a Novak or a Landry than you need to keep the best player unless it's a small gap and you KNOW FOR SURE that young player will be a key member of your roster for years to come.

We still need to make a 3 for 1 move to get the roster # under control.

I don't know how comfortable I am with the 4 spot being made up of rookies & Hayes. I like them all, but having a vet in there would have me more at ease. Juwan's not the guy I'd leap at, but if he signed for the min and came off the bench, it'd be okay.

As high as I am on Scola, I think it'd be wise to assume he'll struggle with fouls at first. PF by committee might be the way we have to go.

Too bad the Haslem deal fell apart. Camp and preseason may help make the decision: I'd like to see what Landry, Reed, Harris, etc can do.

I like Juwan's value on the team as a leader and veteran with experience at the forward sot, and at veteran's minimum, I can see how it's hard not to take him. But we have got to unload a couple of bodies, and soon. Obviously Landry and Harris need to forget about roster spots at this point, but we'll also have to unload both Rafer and Lucas somehow to make this thing work. I don't remember if players sent to the NBDL still occupy a roster spot, because Novak is probably headed that way.

we always mention how professional juwon is.. in regards to being a professional about his team and to his teammates, i agree.. but i always remember juwon getting into tussles and shoving/pushing matches with opponents, leading to technicals and what not...

Any team that sends a player to the D-League still counts as an inactive roster player. It is not Novak, but Landry that will be heading down to the D-League to develop.

Let's just put in a hypothetical. If Cleveland was willing to trade Anderson Verajao to the Rox right now, who do you think Cleveland would want in return?

    Amazing!!

    Simply Amazing.

By the way things are going we're going to have a full roster baseball team.

    Yao; Mutumbo; Butler
    Scola; Hayes; Howard; Landry; Harris
    Battier; Wells; Reed; Novak
    McGrady; Head; Snyder; Sura
    Francis; James; Alston; Brooks; Lucas

And wasn't the Israeli Player also supposed to make a visit to the team? What was his name?

With the Israeli kid, the Roster is a staggering 22 players. WOW!!!

Well Juwan is a cancer on the floor with his horrible defense that contributes to horrible +/- numbers. However, if he only steps on the floor in garbage time or as the result of injuries I have no problem with it. He is good in the locker room and is a crafty player. If he had any kind of athleticism left he would be worth that 7M per year contract.

I'd jump at the chance to get JHo on the cheap. This is the kind of move that could pay off BIG-TIME in case of injury (god forbid) to either Scola or Hayes. Who would you rather have out there in game 7 of the first round, Juwan or Landry? Not even close. Juwan could also provide serviceable minutes at center if need be, especially in today's center-wimpy NBA.

Add to that the fact that he's a veteran and a good clubhouse guy. What's NOT to like about JHo as the #3 PF/#3 C?

Also, all we know about Juwan's defense is that it sucked in JVG's schemes. Maybe under Adelman's system, those weaknesses wouldn't be so critical.
