Not much to be desired for next season's free agents list. Oh well which PG that comes in now will only be warming the sit for the great Spanoulis.
Am I the only one who still would like to see Troy Hudson as the Rockets' starting point guard next year? If JVG wants shooters to support Yao, Troy is the man. He's quick, plays good D, and got the job done while he had a chance in Minnesota. Just please no Derrick Flopper or Eric Snow... Cod
Umm, so this thread is a sticky because someone heard on the radio that Carroll Dawson might be on the phone looking into some trades? Just kidding, I like it...curious!
Shaq will be traded to the Heat, Payton will be traded to the Rockets for the TE, Fisher will re-sign in LA.
do you understand the "=" sign? That is the absolute worst comparison - and you call yourself a doctor...
no payton pls! I want Daniels.. if he pans out, he could be like billups who is a high lottery pick pg who didn't excel in his earlier years but did very well when he landed to detroit
Well yeah, that was my sole point. I don't think he'll be close to as good as Billups, I'm just saying he at least has the talent to fill a need, and that it's good karma.
Daniels is a god bargain for 2 M but he is a very average player. We are talking about a 7.3 ppg 3 apg PG in his eighth NBA season. I know his Asst/TO ratio is high but that stats are not every meaningful. I mean, the top three are Daniel, Damon Jone and Reggie Miller. Boykins and Altson are in top 10. Jason kidd is 11th and Mike Bibby is 28th. Baron Davis is not even in top 50.
Thats the beauty of it. We don't need a superstar at that position. Just someone who can take care of the ball ...........check Just someone who can play good defense ..........check Just someone who can shoot the 3 .........(check ....but just barely)
Howard has 9.57 rebounds per 48 min. for his career (9.36 playoffs) Taylor has 8.76 (6.68 playoffs) Howard and Taylor are both good offensive players and not much of a defender. The difference between the two are their rebounding. Howard is a much more consistent rebounder. In other words, Taylor offers nothing more than Howard except youth. And he is making more money than Howard. With Howard on the team, we don't need another scoring PF with no D and no rebounding. If you can trade Mo Taylor for a starting PG, do it in a heartbeat. If we could somehow get rid of Mo and Spoon, then we would finally cleanup all the bad contracts on the team. But I have a feeling that there will be enough new bad contracts in the league to share around before this offseason is done.
I like Daniels, along with the small expiring contract. That being said cabbage is right. For somebody with his talent,he sure has bumped around the league. One minute he looks like an all star...running the break, ferocious perimeter defense, draining J's.Next,he's sittting,or gone.I think he fits our need perfectly. What's the story on him. He's been healthy. Is it off the court problems? Is he uncoachable?..I've always been curious about him.
I hate it when i hear people say Mo doesn't pass and is a black hole blah blah blah. Do you guys even watch the game?? when he's in, we run iso plays for him. ISO PLAYS. He's supposed to hold the ball and beat them one on one. When there's plays for other people, he is the one that steps out to shoot the jumpshot. It's all in the game plan, so don't be saying Taylor is a blackhole and that's the reason why you don't like him. And he actually is a pretty decent passer. Most of the time he throws good passes into Yao, but i'm commenting on this on watching yao highlights, so don't hold me on that. And his rebounding. He does rebound in traffic, but not much. I think it's just that he doesn't box out. He does rebound; but i think alot of the times his man gets the offensive board or whatever. And yeah he's alittle lazy on the boards too, but if he is keeping at it this summer, who knows how much better he'll get. 1.70 ORPG in 27.7 MPG last year. It's not as bad as you guys make it out to be.
Seattle never had a good offense for him to flourish in. I think he excelled when he was with the Spurs cause he was a good player for that type of team - defense oriented, inside-out team. Just like the Rockets are trying to be. Tim Duncan made him and alot of other guys better because of his presence on both ends of the court. This is the Rockets to a tee. 1) The Rockets are defensive oriented and are trying to be a inside first team. 2) Having Yao and/or TMac on the floor will make Daniels that much better. He just fits. Who cares if he is not a top-rate pg, he will excel as a Rockets cause he fits the team's needs (he doesn't turn the ball over or make bad decisions) and compliments our two stars well. PLUS HE IS CHEAP!!!
Mo OR TE + Spoon for Booth OR James and AD would be a fine trade, it would address our two biggest concern areas. Throw in a #1 for them to take the Spoon/James. Other thoughts: Seattle is very cost conscious, they would like the TE even if it is to not use it and shave salary. They also have to dump one of their centers. Recognize AD is not a great traditional PG. That is why he has never stuck as a starting 1 on many teams. His A/TO ratio is likely a product of him playing conservatively and within himself, not great playmaking or court vision. But that approach is OK, when you have Tmac and Yao to make the half court decisions. I like AW better than Snow or Fisher--assuming AW could pass through the Houston doctors (big if).
I like Mo. He's an excellent offensive option, and not terrible at defense when not forced to guard a #5. He doesn't rebound well... but then, if he did, he'd be a real star. Good role player.
