I am beginning to think that most of the posters are (cautiously optimistic ?) leaning toward Daniels
If it's between Daniels, Fisher and Snow. I'd say Daniels. He's cheaper, more athletic and younger than both. He's the best value amongst these guys.
I think so. I'm optimistic for Daniels not just because he would help, but I'm hoping the Rockets aren't looking at Snow. If Snow's contract wasn't so big he would be a no-brainer. Fisher is moving into that ridiculous contract range, Daniels is the best deal at the money he makes and he would still help solidify the PG position.
Daniels and James unless we could get Hinrich and A. Davis or Snow and Dalembart If the deal is for just a PG by themself, then Daniels is the pick. Chicago ain't gonna trade us Hinrich.
Daniels is #1 in the NBA in Assist/TO ratio? Good lord! Sign him up and right there our PPG probably goes up 6 points! It sounds like Daniels is the best option. Seattle can unload his salary and we can get a staring PG who will be making 2M for next year! Talk about VALUE! His size at 6'4" is nice too at the PG position. Plus because of his size I am sure we could play him at 2 guard with Lue at PG at times if we wanted to rest Tmac. It at least gives us that flexibility. Not that Snow is a bad player, but I absolutely want no part of his contract! That is a killer!
Daniels only has one year left on his cheap contract, so it's not like were getting him cheap for long. I'm sure he'll be looking for a raise next offseason, probably a contract around the same size as Snow.
Here's his contract (Daniels) from Patricia's site... Antonio Daniels ....... signed 7/19/03 for 3 years for 4.1 million with a player-option in '05 http://www.dfw.net/~patricia/contracts So he is very cheap, but has a player option in '05, which I didn't know. That would give him incentive to bust his azz, so we can give him a payday. I assume we'll have his Bird rights.
Probably the case but he is a lot younger than Snow. And we would be able to rent him for a year and if he meshes we can reward him. If not there are a number of other good PG's out there next year that we could look at. The key is we stay flexible.
If we got Hinrich it would be sweet! Today, I saw the repaly of the weekend's Inside Stuff where they were talking about the Bulls' court entertainment. They showed some clips of Hinrich playing and I wished we had him on the Rockets. Doubt the Bulls would send a real good, young pg away unless they were getting a star in return.
If it's a trade, then my prediction/wish may come to pass....Speedy Claxton. Or perhaps....Damon Jones in a sign and trade?
My guess would be that the Sonics want to package Booth, since his contract is the longest. James' contract ends in '05 and Potapenko has a player opt-out in '04. Did he not exercise it? Reading his contract info at Particia's site was confusing... maybe someone can explain the details. Vitaly Potapenko ...... signed 7/26/96, 3/13/99 3+6 $3,686,000+$33mill p-opt '04 http://www.dfw.net/~patricia/contracts
i know someones probably said this but wouldnt seattle be reluctant to give up daniels because they already lost barry?
I seirously doubt Daniels will ask for that type of money. But, even if he did that means he would have earned that money. And at least we would have the option of whether or not to give that money to him then be stuck with it, which is what the Rockets would be in the case of Eric Snow.
Daniels could fill the starting PG role for next season, but he's not a long term solution. People say that Snow is old. Daniels is not young himself. He's already 29 years old and might have two, three good years left before he starts to decline. The only good thing about him is that he's cheap and could be moved easily if he doesn't work out. I just don't think that there is any FA PG out there worth pursuing at this point. In JVG's system we really don't need a star PG. We just need someone who brings the ball up without commiting turnovers, plays tough D, and is able to knock down an open jumper. Hmmm, I guess that Daniels might just fit the bill.
i know someones probably said this but wouldnt seattle be reluctant to give up daniels because they already lost barry? There's an article earlier in this thread somewhere, that mentions that Seattle is pursuing Fisher and might want to clear up cap space, with Daniels being one of the people. And several teams are interested in Daniels.
