People say that want Fisher because of his championship experience, which is a good reason to want him, but do you realize that if the Rockets get Daniels that our top 2 PGs, Daniels and Lue, would have a combined 3 championship rings? That's some intangibles at the PG spot. And, combined, they would be cheaper then Fisher.
How bad do they want to 'dump' Snow('s contract)? NY - Chi want to deal -- Hinrich for Pike; Williams for TE. Mo to NY for KThomas. Boston resigned Blount. LaFrentz for Mo and Pike; Atkins for TE. Seattle wants cap room? Potapenko and Daniels for TE. Cleveland needs to recover from being BamBoozered. Daniels - Ollie - Pike. Lots of possibilities. Endless speculation. Like tessio said, 'I hope Mike (CD) gets us a good deal.'
I have never eally seen Danials play. Can he play D? If he is the guy that JVG gets, what do you think his season avg will be?
my preferences in order: snow + dalembert (i'm not a bandwagonner i've started threads about him months and months ago) > NVX > just snow > daniels but really i'm happy with any of these. we need a athletic big man to play like 25 minutes a game, spell yao, block shots, and get back in transistion D. i'm not sure anyone fits the bill more than Samueal Dalembert... but why would the sixers want to trade us one of their few good players? so that's a dream. i am actually an NVX fan. anyone that has ever loved steve's fire, quickness, and competitiveness... all of that is embodied in NVX. snow is a good defender and doesn't make mistakes with the ball. both he and daniels in my opinion would be better than lue.
It's going to be Snow. He's not bad, IMO. He will fit in nicely with NVG's pass first, defense always system. theSAGE
He had a reputation as a pretty good perimeter defender. I think that's the reason the Rockets went after him so hard last summer.
The one red flag that I see concerning Daniels is that Seattle seems to be willing to part with him and his very inexpensive contract. Why? Moreover, they seem to be wanting to "upgrade" to Fisher. Does that say something about Fisher being a better choice (although I can't say I know why). If so, this would be our chance to grab Fisher.
Daniels is... actually pretty explosive for a point guard, at least he used to be, i didn't see him at all in seattle. can get to the rim at time, and is pretty safe with the ball, though not spectacular. certainly has the tools to be a good defender, but he isn't an estabilished good defender. season average? 10-5 maybe?
I haven't seen him play since he was in San Antonio, but I'm sure he hasn't changed much. He is real athletic, has some ability to get in the lane, can shoot pretty well but not great. What I remember about him when he played with the Spurs was that he always came in off the bench and got the team really running. He used to kill the Rockets with off the ball steal and running the break. I used to absolutley hate him, but he is a nice player.
I think Fisher is better than Daniels but not worth the TE. I don't want Snow. He can't shoot and is getting old. I hope we are not chasing Atkins.
I think a lot of the posters here complaining about Snow have never seen him play, or have only seem him in action once or twice. The man can play basketball. He's a better player than Fisher, who we would end up overpaying anyway. My gut tells me it'll be Daniels, though.
Heres an opionion about Daniels, from the moderator of the sonics message board: I'd take Fisher over AD. With AD running the show last season when Brent was hurt, our offense was lifeless. I really can't say that I want to watch that over a full season. Maybe Fisher could do a better job?
Payton, Juwan Howard, both on the Rockets? Why not Sam Perkins, Charles Oakley, and Karl Malone, Saddam Hussein, The Hob Goblin, Smeagle, Lucifer, Freddy Kreuger, or any of the Astros??
Snow is good - its his contract that have most of us groaning I think its Daniels too (see the Brent Barry articles where it was discussed that Houston and Seattle were talking trade)
I agree. He's a JVG kind of player. Tough D, smart, takes care of the rock, doesn't try to do too much, and can hit the midrange J. Unless injuries have somehow shackled him, he'd make a good fit. D R
Fisher has never had to run or do anything on his own. I seriously doubt he could do anything if you stuck him on last year's Sonics team in place of Daniels. What would people be saying about Fishers if he was drafted by, say, the Hawks and not LA? He would probably be an afterthought today, maybe not even in the league. Concerning Snow, he is an excellent pass-first, smart PG, but no way in HELL i agree to pay him 9 million a year through 2009. Especially concerning his age and recent tendency for injuries. Daniels is a no-brainer. He's a decent shooter, good passer, plays some D, and know how to run a break. He is clearly the most athletic PG at this position with the most upside. ANd for 2 million a year? No brainer.
