Getting Dalembert as compensation for taking on Snow's long contract would be awesome. Unfortunately, he's pretty much as untouchable as AI.
Why so negative about Snow? He sucks at 3-pts, but his jumpers are decent. He's also very experienced and a touch defender. In fact, we dont lack of shooters. Mac, JJ and Pike are established shooters with a decent set-up PG. Boki also has promise.
Seattle paper reporting Daniels may be on the block, to clear space for Fisher: http://www.tribnet.com/sports/story/5294918p-5232321c.html Derek Fisher of Lakers pays visit to Sonics FRANK HUGHES; The News Tribune Free agent point guard Derek Fisher visited with the Seattle SuperSonics on Monday, though it did not seem probable that Fisher procured a contract offer. Fisher, who has spent the past eight seasons with the Los Angeles Lakers, flew into Seattle on Sunday night, spent the day Monday with Sonics management and then had dinner with various members of the organization Monday night. The Sonics have said they want to add a perimeter defender, and with Bruce Bowen and Stephen Jackson gone in free agency, Fisher remains the top free agent available. The Sonics are able to offer all or part of their mid-level exception, which should be about $5.4 million. Fisher likely is seeking all of that, though there is some question whether the Sonics want to spend their entire exception on one player. One possibility, according to a team source, is trading Antonio Daniels, who is said to be the object of interest because of his relatively inexpensive $2 million salary. If Daniels is traded, it could free up money for Fisher. If not, adding Fisher presents a problem in that he would be the fifth guard on a team that had too many guards last season. However, Sonics coach Nate McMillan has been adamant that he wants a perimeter defender who can set a defensive tone that he hopes will carry through the rest of the team. The oddity of Fisher visiting Seattle is that he was replaced in the Lakers' starting lineup by former Sonics guard Gary Payton, even though Fisher was the point guard for all of the Lakers' three recent championship teams. Payton became disgruntled last season because Fisher took the bulk of the minutes in the fourth quarters because he played better on-the-ball defense than Payton. In eight seasons in Los Angeles, Fisher has averaged 7.4 points, 3.0 assists and 1.03 steals.
If its between FIsher and Daniels, I would prefered Daniels since both have pretty identical stats except that Daniels FG% is much better then Fisher and Fisher is just a little better then Daniels in 3pt %. Fisher play with the Lakers so his stats should look better but Daniels play on a mediocre Sonics so advantage Daniels.
I was hoping that we could land a big name PG, and find value in a back up center, since there are none really available. I was hoping for Barry or Fisher. I rather have Daniels than Snow.
Yeah, I agree that I would have a hard time seeing Philly give up SD. Hey, who here would have ever thought that Dalembert would have a better career than Eddie Griffen?
The problem with Snow is his contract. 5 years left on it, that's to much. Come on Carrol, work that Magic! A backcourt of Daniels and McGrady would be outstanding!
haha that's awesome TMAC, MAURICE TAYLOR, and KELVIN CATO. I was trying to find some articles to read about Antonio Daniels but the site sucks..no info
I say we get Daniels and Battie We already have McGrady and MoT All we have to do is bring back Cato and talk the Spurs into a S&T Yao, Spoon and Pike for Tim Duncan that would give us the 1997 Draft allstar team.
Most people are intimidated by Snow's contract (me included). If we get him, we'll have to pay him over $6 million/year until 2009. The guy's already 31 years old. He's not bad now, but 3-4 years from now we'll be complaining about his unproductivity and age every day.
jvg said we need to surround yao and tmac with shooters. SO hopefully its not snow. Why would we go from pursing barry to snow. Makes no sense. Daniels makes more sense. Or at least i hope it does. If we get snow expect some bashing.
Yeah... that was a pretty bad draft. TMac and Duncan and then a bunch of role players, including our boys Cato and Mo!
did you see who's at #9, 14, and 15? McGrady, Mo, Cato. That is so crazy LOL! Daniels ahead of McGrady, who would have thought? Adonal Foyle was drafted ahead of McGrady! So was Tony Battie, and we would KILL to have Battie and Daniels! Come on, bring on the class of '97!
