WojYahooNBA Adrian Wojnarowski Kessler: "They were carrying out a mandate they were given. This is a sad day for fans, because someone in that BOG was sent ...." WojYahooNBA Adrian Wojnarowski Kessler: "....the fans, blow us off." KBergCBS Ken Berger Kessler says union was told Paul Allen was at meeting "to express the views of the other members of the Board of Governors."
WojYahooNBA Adrian Wojnarowski For all the momentum that had taken shape, the trust in these labor talks has been obliterated. Never been worse between the sides. Never.
http://www.nbpa.org/player-representatives looking at the player rep list, it is a good sample, I retract my earlier post
Why? This is about numbers, not fairness, for both sides. Don't you want your negotiators to be those most likely not to give in to a lesser deal?
Without knowing a damn thing about the legalities of decertification, I can predict two things about it. One, the season is toast if it happens. Two, players are going to regret doing it for the rest of their lives.
i'm not really into this lockout scene, but i see a lot of quotes saying "making all 30 teams competitive" do they mean in terms of financial standing, or getting all 30 teams to be competitive during the season? i mean are the owners looking to shift the financials to a hard cap that would, say, break up these "super squads" that looks like are going on. so essentially, miami would have to get rid of 1 or 2 of the big 3? i mean if the NBA is going to allow the super squads, how are anything but a handful of teams going to be competitive in the future?
Woah, earlier when I checked we were only getting positive news coming out. What happened? Is the season seriously in jeopardy and are things looking grim?
WojYahooNBA Adrian Wojnarowski The end of that previous Kessler quote should've ended: "...to blow off the fans, blow us off." ATolliver44 Anthony Tolliver by sam_amick I want to personally apologize to all the #NBA fans and every1 else affected by this stupidity. I really hope that this can be resolved soon KBergCBS Ken Berger Kessler: "We went in there trying to negotiate. And they came in there and said, 'Either you accept 50-50, or we're done.'" alanhahn Alan Hahn And Jeffrey Kessler, union lawyer, just finished the job Hunter started. Kessler says the negotiations were "hijacked"...on deadline. Sorry. KBergCBS Ken Berger Kessler: "That view was, 'Our way or the highway.' We were shocked." KBergCBS Ken Berger This, folks, is what they call a kerfuffle on steroids. #lockout sam_amick Sam Amick After all that has transpired since "The Decision" to now, it's Dan Gilbert telling a player rep to trust him in a key moment? Wow. sam_amick Sam Amick Yep. Not much left to leak. RT @ZachLowe_SI: That union presser was remarkable, in level of anger and the level of crazy detailed revealed.
http://aol.sportingnews.com/nba/fee...-fear-of-decertification-drive-nba-labor-deal Great article on decertification. That what's going to happen now I guess. Well, after 3 years, maybe this is the year I'll finally will get my sleep (no Rockets games at 2-3am)
Well that's pretty shortsighted... Most of the younger guys who can't see the forest for the trees will more than make up for the missed checks over their career if the negotiations go the Union's way. These are no regular players/workers. They know the NBA is entirely built around their image and irreplaceable talents as individuals, instead of teams/organizations, unlike the NFL, NHL, and MLB, and will not continue without them. The know what they're worth, and I think the owners are pretty surprised by that. This is only gonna get worse. Damn it.
Owners are going to cave first. Players can stand on all ready talking a voluntary cut of their share of the BRI. In the public's eyes the owners have not made any easy to see concessions. A real concession is giving something back that you already had, not just asking for less of the outrageous amount you asked for in the first place. Stern has the owners on a strict order of silence while the players are out signing autographs and playing Charity Basket games and making money off appearance fees. Doing nothing is very had to do when your paying customers are getting fed up with your lack of action. The players have a edge in the court of public opinion for the simple fact what ever deal they sign they are getting less and what ever deal owners get is better then what they had before
****, I wanna watch the Rockets vs. Clippers game! Not stupid Adam Silver press conference. This lockout is even effecting old school games!
As one of the posts noted, the larger owners who are willing to deal simply don't have the votes. That doesn't sound like a Stern thing, but like a small market teams are already losing money and need the system to change "radically" thing. Since true revenue sharing doesn't seem likely, it is what it is... When you're already losing money, it does no good to agree to a deal that helps you lose less money, but still has you losing money. I can't be sure that is actually happening, but sure seems like it.
Just saw the gumby Kenny Smith and Hakeem and then got interrupted by stupid bald elf looking Adam Silver. First I was like this  Then I was like this
AlexKennedyNBA Alex Kennedy "They planned this all along," said one source close to the NBPA. "They don't want to make a deal. They wasted our time. They teased us."
