League official says highly unlikely parties to mediation will speak to media this evening. Unsure if Stern and Grousbeck returning tonight.

No end point set for mediation, and both sides remain under request from mediator George Cohen not to make public comments.

Stern and Celtics owner Wyc Grousbeck have left hotel for planning committee meeting. Adam Silver and Peter Holt remain in mediation.

I think it is time they inform the senate that their ability to use the force has diminished.

My guess: He's going alone because he doesn't want RT @ThatKidCraftyy: Does Cohen addressing the media mean that the meeting is over?

...sides talking. He needs to address media, because they're taking a break for B of G meeting & will resume Friday.

I think those tweeters lied about this thing being on NBA TV.

Seems like besides saying they’re meeting again tomorrow, it was all just very vague as usual.

Feels encouraging that they will meet again tomorrow. Meetings on 3 straight days, 2 that owners were supposed to be unavailable.

We need a fair deal, we the players got to make up for everything, all of the lost. Which is not fair, if we got to miss the season, then ok

Thursday's meeting will mark the first time the two sides have met three days in a row during negotiations.

While there was no major breakthrough, progress was made on the BRI revenue split, two sources in NBA labor talks tell Y! Story to come.

I think BRI is just one of the things they're disagreeing on. No way that this is all over 3 percent of income.

Of course he won't miss the season because he will no longer make it.

I actually think this is significant, and it's the root of my argument that the players have all the leverage they need to force a better deal.

This isn't solely about economics. Labor negotiations are never based on pure economic benefit. The whole reason a labor union can get its members to strike, and forgo benefits, is because of a perception of unfair dealing by the employer. It's basic human psychology that people will choose fight for fairness even when its not in their best economic interests. When employers assume that they have all the leverage because they hold the money, they are ignoring human psychology and assuming that they can force an unfair deal because the other side will act rationally and not forgo economic benefit. This has historically been a false assumption.

Unless the owners present a deal that defeats this presumption of unfairness, they will not be able to "crush the union".

Stern would rather stay home with the "flu" to get better than to potentially save billions? **** HIM

LOL, I may loathe Stern, but c'mon man. A flu is no joke, fever, sore throat, coughing, etc. He better stay home or else, that is contagious.

In a prior life, I (voluntarily) went to work despite the flu but it's really a stupid thing to do if you have a choice in the matter. Also consider Stern's age.

Everyone and their mothers knew that this was the eventual road these labor talks were headed for. So my question to Stern, the owners, and players association is: "Why the **** did you guys not get more serious back in July/August about this ****?"

The majority of reports spanning back two years all said that the players and owners were very far apart. I understand playing hard ball in negotiations, but when the integrity of your product is at stake, then you should have more serious talks rather than talk for a day then take 2 months off.
