This interview does not give me much hope for anything beyond picking at 25 or maybe getting some early 2nd round picks for money. Of course Morey would not reveal anything, but the silence from the Rockets as a whole and "inside sources", does not make me get my hopes up. Every year we hear about how the Rockets are trying to move up, but I really wonder if the Rockets are really trying sometimes or just trying to make fans feel like they are trying. Every year we basically draft at our spot and then make some second round noise.
But thats the fun and mystery of the draft. Will the Rockets go for it? Will they not? Even if they don't move up, it still brings viewers.
Yeah,he didn't even give a hint about what kind of player that they are targeting. I think it's better to keep things quiet anyway despite our curiosity.
Ahwell....I did one too, I'm just slower than the rest. But since I already put the work in, here goes: A lot more talk in movement than past years, nothing particular for us though, just a lot of talk. Talent drops off a bit, creating varying opinions on the draft picks' value. when a team sells its pick, cash doesn't count in cap numbers. NO just didn't like what they were getting at 27. we try to keep our workouts private, but we do work out the most players in the league, 50-70 every year. rockets teamed up with minnesota on the workouts not only to share info on players expected to go in the 20's, but for general information on top ranked players for scouting and possible trades (even after the draft). Rockets think the playoffs should play a part in draft order, as Jazz pick at 23, and picked earlier in the past 2 years, where they took someone that was pretty high in the Rockets pool. rockets weigh personality like a job interview, even do psychological testing on players and put them through different physical drills. yao's getting final checkup this week, if he gets a positive, he'll begin work with chinese national team. at 25, you have to choose which weaknesses you'll put up with.
Agreed. I don't understand Morey's logic many times. We will see what actually happens tomorrow though.
I agree about keeping quiet on Trade & Draft things, but over the years, we have set the bar at a high level (still, I want it higher). The knowledge and expectations of those who frequent this BBS are probably better than at most other places on the Internet. The local media has some access to the Front Office that our overall user base lacks, but that is their only edge over us. For the most part, I don't think the media & analysts (local & national) are any better than the stronger posters on this BBS. The rush by some to breathlessly start a new thread to copy & paste the News & Analysis by some Expert is amusing because far too often, very little new information is given to us. If we were a collective group of Dolts, then I could see the need to hang on every word of the Experts.
I don't feel that the experts are better than the more knowledgeable posters here at all.I do hope that the bar will be raised higher on the BBS as well.
So who did we want that Utah grabbed? Almond? I like the draft order being based on playoff results as how you do in the playoffs is what matters most to everyone. Even if you win the championship as an 8 seed well, that team should be ok with getting last pick.
I can't believe people really think Morey is doing this for nothing? The reason he is doing the interview is because he wants to put up smoke screen to the other teams, so he can get out the most from this draft.. Remember the the 50/50 that he just told us?...
With the way Houston food has been treating him, I'd be wont to call him Big Daryl. <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/sDwDqPs9dpU&hl=en"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/sDwDqPs9dpU&hl=en" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>
I actually am happy that they're keeping it all under wraps. I'd rather not know if knowing means other teams would know what we're doing (and it would). I can wait until tomorrow night. I'm greatly looking forward to the draft. Not only will there be our new picks to discuss, but it'll mark the beginning of trades and free agent talks. This board will become considerably more interesting.
Yeah. I loved how instead of talking sports, they wanted listeners to call in with their favorite actors who never made a bad movie today.
exactly right. i love that he had "secret workouts." it's a great idea not to let anyone know who feels like they are rising out of the second round or slipping into the late first round.

Anyone else curious about the announcement about the Rockets on Sports Radio 610's site right now? http://www.sportsradio610.com/[\url...after the question about Federer.
