I would grab Joe Alexander before the Bucks if I had the 5th or 7th pick.

If this works out, the Memphis management can finally proof they never made a mistake on Gasol trade, they are just r****ded.

Are you sure they weren't browsing Clutchfans and discussing random trade scenarios?

Just so we have accurate info, u can't trade a 1st rd pick for cash. If they're trying to get rid of it, they can prearrange a deal with the salary to match the spot and a player. U can't just ask for money for a 1st rd pick.

Brian Cardinal is the luckiest b*stard in the NBA.

just knew the very day he got that contract that he was going to replace Juwan Howard as most overpaid player in the league.

Memphis is bleeding money. Sure, I could see getting the #5 and Cardinal (ugh) for BJax...plus a couple/few first rounders, SOMEthing.

Of course, this could all be way off, but if it has any validity, what a good thing we weren't dumb enough to help them save face (for the Gasol debacle) at the trade deadline by sending them Scola (and whatever else) for Miller.

Just for the record, I got the Memphis story from an NBA front office guy (not the Rockets). The Grizzlies are the cheapest organization in basketball. You can buy draft picks for up to $3 million. It has been done on several occasions. The Rockets bought the 2nd round pick that turned into Carl Landry last year from the Sonics. The Suns sold draft picks a few years ago to the Celtics (Rajon Rondo) and the Trailblazers (Sergio Rodriguez). It's not against the rules, though I think it should be, especially in the case of a 1st round pick.

The 64dol$lar question is whether the report is, in fact, true and whether the Rox can trump the Knicks. BJax and someone traded for more attractive than Lee?

I thought it was less than that. I thought the cap on cash exchange was like 1 m. I guess I need to go reread the cba and rules so I don't give out bad info. I don't think if they could they should move that high. Now I can see a move to Portlands spot and take Donte Green. I think from 5-20 there isn't much seperation to me.

What was the highest pick to ever be bought? I can't see a team selling the 5th pick in the draft..

Memphis also has no. 28 pick from LAL. Do they actually want to trade that one?

Just for trade value reference, the 5th pick of the draft was traded for Ray Allen last year.

The suns sold the 7th pick in the draft to the bulls. Turned out to be Deng. Don't know if that's the highest ever, but it's high enough.

But this wont be happening, not for the rockets.

That's encouraging to hear - I forgot about that one. If we get that fifth pick, we better be taking a PG - Mayo, Westbrook or Bayless, if available.
