    bigboy,

    Just go to www.rollingstone.com and you will find it as their cover story. Then you will have to navigate your way through the links.

    I only saw the top 100, but noticed no QUEEN.

    Drew, on Rush, I think the reason they're not there might have something to do with Geddy Lee sounding like a mouse. Just a guess. ;)

    Hey, where's William Shatner?

    But, seriously folks, maybe some of the older BBSers can answer a question for me;

    Has the pop culture media always been this obsessed with top [insert number here] lists? It seems like the last 10 years have seen a giant diarrhetic explosion of top-whatever lists. Top 10 Albums For Housecleaning By Amputees, Best 20 Albums That Cats Like, Favorite 100 Artists That My Cousin Jesse Used To Have On 8-Track, Top 500 Music Videos Featuring Airline Stewardesses, Best 50 Hits By Men With Shaved Chests, and so on....there are just too many of them. Way, way, way, way too many.

    In an effort to cull them down and make them manageable, I've compiled a "Top 1000 List of the Best Top 10 Lists of All Time Forever and Ever." It will be handwritten in magic marker on a roll of CharminĀ® (triple-ply, for your comfort!) and available at your local supermarket, next to all the other magazines suitable for bottom-wiping. Expect a VH1 special during sweeps week.

    Speaking of Rolling Stone - they haven't got anything right for years. They're making buttloads of money though by putting half-nekkid teenage girls and effeminate de-shirted teenage boys on the cover of every issue.

    They should have stuck to one genre of music instead of insulting my musical taste by not listing people like townes van zandt, who should have easily cracked the top 50 on any musical list.

    The problem with this list is the people who picked it don't have the subtle knowledge of the various musical genres. When I view the list, I can tell that these people have no idea about country music. The same goes for rap and jazz and all the rest. What is seems more likely is they pick the old stand bys in addtion to the new flavor of the month.

    I was, howver, pleasantly suprised to see John Prine on the list.

    i know a lot of people are going to disagree with me, but there is no way you can leave off Hootie & the Blowfish Debut album "Cracked Rear View". Not only did it sell 16 million records, but it delivered the knockout punch to grunge and ushered end a new era of pop music. Whether you love them or hate them, they deserved to be somewhere on that list.

    I don't know about rap or country, but there were quite a few jazz albums on there although the majority of them were Miles and Coltrane, but there were more than you would think, considering Rolling Stone is geared more towards rock music than anything else.
