i hope he stays. he'll definitely be the best 3rd pg in the league. but that may not be the kind of title he wants.

Nope, you only get the LLE every other year (If you choose to use it), we used it last year on Derek Anderson, so we don't get it again until next offseason..

"Hello, Draft Express? This is David Falk, John Lucas III's agent. I've got a story for you..."

If John Lucus III goes to Phoenix he will become the most improved player in the NBA. He will become the greatest small NBA star since Calvin Murphy. Atlanta will offer him 7/8 million a year for 5 years after the end of the season because he was so similar to Steve Nash, when the MVP had to sit.

If Lucas III comes to Houston he will be an undersized point guard who constantly gets posted up by larger guards. He will be in JVG's dog house because he can't get himself to grow another 5 inches. He will lose the ability to shoot, have trouble throwing it into Yao, and not be able to finish the break.

I love JL III's game and hope he chooses the Rockets. I got joy from watching him with the Rocks last year, and was dissapointed when he was let go.

Count down until he signs with the suns and CD is on 610 moaning about how we offered him the same as everyone else but he chose to go elsewhere... :(

You said it. Plus, does it hurt if we sign Lucas? He can come for cheap and gets the potential, and what is his sign has to do with priority?

for his development, he should probably go to Suns, learn things from Nash, jack up the stats in the run & gun system, then sign a big contract 2 years later.

If he goes to the Suns he'll be a 3rd point guard there too with Barbosa in town.

Somehow this rings so true. I once posted a thread entitiled, "The Shooters Graveyard." Players who come to the Rockets suddenly can't shoot. It is really uncanny, and, IMO, it has everything to do with the emphasis on defense and JVG's "overthinking" approach to the game. Players become mechanical and can't seem to create an offensive rhythm. It is also due to the Rockets bringing in some really untalented players.

But he gets the chance to be courtside with a 2 year MVP, not a depressing JVG. I would love Lucas stays here and plays for rockets, but the feeling that he won't develop that much under JVG and might end up as a nobody scares me.

JL3 would probably want a shorter Contract so he can get out of it
    if he becomes all world
    however
that won't happen on the Rockets because I don't see him getting minutes
so he may want more years to be here

The best option for him right now is probaby a one year minimum with a player option for a second year. That way he's got over a million guaranteed, but can still opt out next season if he plays well enough to get a big raise.

Of course that's one of the things we didn't give James, a player option to get out a year early.

I'll be pretty depressed if we let JLIII go. Git 'R Done CD.

The Rockets *did* offer a player option. The lack of a trade kicker killed the deal. Get your facts straight; after a week of Mike James inundation one would think that we'd figure out what's going on.

I think it would be better if the Rockets gave a deal similar to Hayes's deal; 2 years, minimum, second year on team option. But if other teams are offering 2 guaranteed years that isn't an option.

Will JL3 become the first ever minimum wage player with a trade kicker?

    Stay tuned.
