I like KPJ, Wood too. I think the 15 game losing streak affected everyone; shooting efficiency, cohesion, etc. Remember, this is a very young team. I would just like to make the Play-in game to get experience this yr.
That lack of spacing exacerbated TOV with all the players. Especially the primary ball handlers. Both KPJ and Green struggled mightily with turnovers.
KPJ needs to shoot better but his assists have been next level since Silas wisely scrapped the ridiculous 2 big lineup.
I like both players Green and Porter. You have to give Porter some slack, PG is a tough position, especially if you were a SG and SF previously. This is his first yr playing PG full-time. No disrespect but I recall when Westbrook first came into the league and KPJ is way better. Westbrook was a bull in a china shop and to be truthful not a whole lot has changed, except he has become better at playmaking and his shot has gotten a little (very little) better....THAT'S IT!
Best guard on a crap roster. The Rockets look like scrambled eggs offensively most of the year. I’m not a fan of the guy as a lead guard. Add the Knick knack injuries & the off the court stuff, I’d just rather sell “high” on this kid. A guard who can run a set consistently ( without a mountain of turnovers) would do wonders and Porter ain’t it.
Give him time. This is his 1st season running the PG position. It's similar to playing QB in the NFL, it takes time. Think of it like this, a player has been playing running back and wide receiver most of his life, then all of a sudden you're playing quarterback, it's not easy. He was playing SF and SG, now he's playing PG. For example, look at EG. He's been playing SG his whole career and handling the ball on occasions and NOBODY wants him at the PG position....IT'S NOT EASY
I actually meant JC, my bad. But if Rockets are serious about transitioning Green to PG like some on CF have clamored for, then yes, he should learn the position in G League.
The bigger question should have been, is he suggesting Sengun be a point guard?? I love his passing too but pg?
Green is definitely not a PG I don't think. I think you run KPJ more, if in fact he doesn't make it as a PG and we move him back to the wing I wouldn't then start a new SG to PG experiment with Green, that puts us back again. It's either Porter or get an actual PG, cycling through SG and wings is silly, not everybody is Harden and can actually improve switching from a wing to a point.
He's a great passer but not a great dribbler. However what I would like to see, until Porter gets back, Tate bring the ball up, get the ball to Sengun and then let him run the offense.
His history is a concern. Hope he can really turn it around as there aren’t many stories of that happening in the NBA. Concerned we’ve given too much too quickly without making him earn it behind an experienced veteran who can teach him the proper ways both on and off the court.
