I've some Scot blood in me, so yeah... I know all about William Wallace and Robert the Bruce and all that ****. The movie makes Robert the Bruce look like a weakling piece of ****, but truth be told... he kicked some ass after Big Willy bit the big one.
No it didn't. It made him look betrayed by his father. Yes, he did betray Wallace at one point, but that was when he understood his passion, which made him who he was. <iframe title="YouTube video player" width="640" height="390" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/8n0Q8THJE60" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
I hated Braveheart until I was about 10, but I've seen it about 20 times now and love it, not sure what there is to not like about it
I wish y'all would watch the actual movie, but this is the scene to see if you didn't bother. <iframe title="YouTube video player" width="640" height="390" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/Hce-Xvp1gm8" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
Again, if dharocks or I were to say we've seen the movie and we loved it and have no complaints about it, does it change ANYTHING about the way you responded to Kam? Critiquing a film is all SUBJECTIVE. If I loved a movie like There Will Be Blood and someone else says they don't like it, I'm not gonna call them out. Different strokes for different folks. Please get this through your head.
No, it isn't. Or else we wouldn't have any need for critics. Most of you tepid peons have no idea what to think about a film unless you have somebody spell it out for you at a 7th grade reading level.
I'm not gonna speak for those people because that would mean I'm generalizing a lot of people I don't know. (like what you did there) All I know is that people like different things and if that isn't simple enough for you then that's depressing. Why force people to like a certain movie? Or why call someone an idiot if they don't like a movie? Does liking one movie make you intelligent? Last I heard, movies were for entertainment. It is also art. If critiquing a movie isn't all subjective, then there would be a PERFECT movie. There is no such thing and there never will be.
How many times do you have to be told to watch a movie? It is now obvious that you didn't see it it! So, here you go champ! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=489pO9q8guA&feature=player_embedded#at=63
Who is talking about forcing anybody to like anything? You want to say... I dunno... King Kong... is the greatest movie ever made? Be my guest. Art is not subjective, and film is one of the easiest forms to critique. There is a structural basis, most people can recognize a gripping story, but most people also think Tyler Perry knows humor. There is a common consensus now on what constitutes a great movie, a good movie, a decent movie, a poor movie, and a **** movie. But morons will still keep reading Rolling Stone and going to see any movie Peter Travers likes (Hint: If its big-budget, he'll automatically love it).
I saw Braveheart couple of times through the years, it was a good movie, but not top 5 or 10 in my books. I rate it the same as Gladiator. I'm surprised at American Beauty being mentioned multiple times in this thread as the worst?? I thought it was one of the best movies ever, definitely in my top 3 with pulp fiction and others.
For the record, I'm 43- and pardon me if I'm not into over-the-top epics with a huge number of factual inaccuracies- newsflash, a lot of people didn't like Braveheart, either, nor Gladiator. I happen to think that all movies which have won Best Picture have some obvious merit to them, and so I can even mention Braveheart in my lower 5 without saying it's a bad movie. And, for the record, b*stard, I happen to like Chariots of Fire- so I think your particular opinion sucks as far as that goes. I think that by mentioning The Greatest Show on Earth, methinks I would have to be a little older than 35 unless I was digging way, way back. You know, instead of coming on here b****ing about other people's opinions, why don't you mention your top 5/worst 5?
Kids, use your Netflix to go back and get the 1970 Dustin Hoffman epic, Little Big Man It's a deconstruction of the American Cowboy mythos, and One of the Best Movies of All Time.
mcgrady, don't see braveheart. you'll wish you spent those three hours being sodomized by a jew-hating drunkard. my top 5 p.o.s. oscar winners: 1. braveheart 2. the english patient 3. gladiator 4. million dollar baby 5. braveheart (it sucks so hard it has to be on there twice)
