Easier would be allowing voting from your home computer, using your social security number and a secret pin....

Can't get any easier than that.

it looks like something out of terry gillam's brazil, kinda steam-punkish, a there's a big lever you pul to reset the machine, then a wall of small switches next to each choice. you make your selections then pull the lever to cast your vote.

In MD, got to the voting place at 6:45 and there were already about 200 people in line. Polls opened at 7:00am and I was done voting by 7:45. Very efficient actually. There was probably about 15/20 voting booths.

Pretty dam close! In New York we still use these old things. But somehow I still trust them more than I do electronic voting.

Guys I finally did it. I voted for the first time ( I turned 30 this year ) and there was hardly a line. Voted this morning around 7:30 and waited at most 10 min. I voted @ Sugar Creek Country Club near Dairy Ashford and 59. I think you have to be registered with Ft. Bend County to vote at the Country Club.

Alright, so today will be my first time voting. What do I need to have with me in order to do so?

I voted in early voting. In my county over 36000 people have voted in early voting period including 5000 new voters (2004 had a total of 55000 people vote). Voter turn out is expected to break the previous record with turnout rate of 65-70%! Oh I am in Indiana.

Well if we had early voting, mail-in voting, extended hours - we would not have to face the lines.

    That is a fact.

It is also a fact that Republicans consistently oppose these things in order to root out "fraud" - which they are unable to provide evidence of.

There is evidence of voter registration fraud - there is little to no evidence of voter fraud - this is why the Republicans are unable to identify any instances of it, why millions of dollars of taxpayer money went to waste investigating this bogeyman.

We have had this argument. You have lost, because the facts were against you, and you refused to address them. Your crop circle is fake. There are no aliens there.

    Doubtful.

republicans are against early voting and extended hours? who knew? they' might be against double standards, such as what happened in st. louis in 2000 and 2004, where a democratic judge held open polls in democrat-leaning areas, and would not allow the same in republican-leaning areas. but in general, i think everyone is in favor of getting voter participation as high as possible- it worked wonderfully for Bush in 2004, and i suspect it'll have the same effect for mccain today.

but i'm astounded that you think there's no voter fraud, or that registration fraud is some kind of bogey man. it's exceedingly easy to game the system if one wants, and it's pretty clear that obama's campaign has been invloved in just that. whether it's determinative, we'll have to wait and see, but it's instructive to see where acorn, to take one example, has been most active this year, and then look at an electoral college map.

when confidence in the system is damaged, everyone loses- it's everyone's problem.

Depends on where you're at. Take some photo ID or a utility bill just to be sure.

    Thanks for voting.
