wth? how hard is it to fathom that people only want to see the Police? at our age, we are barely Police fans as it is. they have never been my favorite group. i'm going basically because this is probably the last time i will get the chance (unless they regroup later). plenty of people time their arrival to miss opening acts. it's nothing new. i wouldn't mind seeing Elvis...but i'm not driving and i'm not calling the shots. besides, we have some timing issues and we are going to dinner first. so, the lame comment was uncalled for.

I'm with you. I enjoyed the last Police tour when Fiction Plane was opening for them. Then again, I was always a fan of "Cigarettes", so I wanted to see them anyway.

very hard for me to fathom. don't get all worked up, some people like live music more than others. besides, elvis costello > the police, and even as that is debatable, he is an icon of that era and you guys aren't even trying to see what it's all about. i think that's lame, or at the very least, your loss.

Really enjoyable show. I'm very thankful for the opportunity to see these guys twice now, especially given how fantastic a show they put on. I'm a major fan of the trio alone, backup singers and musicians would have hurt the performance in my eyes.

For those asking, this is probably way too late, but they took the stage last night at about 8:40.

Openers: I've "met" some of my favorite artists by catching an opener I had no previous clue about. At the same time, I see no reason to bash anyone that skips an opener they don't have interest in.

I thought it was a pretty good show last night...not as good as the other shows I've seen lately. They sounded pretty tight. I did catch the last 3 or 4 songs of Elvis Costello. For an era icon, he certainly didn't appear to have the fans on his side much. Everyone was sitting the whole time...almost indifferent. However, they did give him some polite applause after each song and when the band members were introduced...but it was clear everyone was there for The Police. I caught the "peace, love, and understanding" song...which is one of the few I know by him. Crowd didn't seem much into him and he high-tailed it out of there at the end of his set with a simple wave. I wonder if the Houston reception for him was better?

Everyone was much more enthusiastic obviously when The Police hit the stage...standing pretty much the whole time in the reserved seating (at least in the front sections where I was). It was kind of hot and a little humid...but not too bad. Those guys have been really hitting the dates on this tour...so obviously it didn't feel that fresh and kind of felt like they were going through the motions. The crowd was okay for the sing-along parts and were into it some...but I've seen better. I got what I wanted from the show...but it was still too expensive. I wouldn't see them again at $225 a ticket. They definitely didn't sell out all the reserved seats...and the lawn wasn't as crowded as I thought it would be. A helluva a lot more people showed up for Roger Waters...that is for sure. It was fun, though.

    Cheers
