I really don't even believe that Morey told Bosh he'd only win 45 games if he signs with the Heat. None of his public statements have even hinted at such a view. There was a lot of spin being leaked to the press during those weeks. The big 3 all took less than the max and the Heat dumped Beasley to free up cap space for Miller. It's easy to see why he failed.

well why dont you call out the people that said they were going to brake the bulls record of 72 wins? those people were way off too. actually they were more way off that morey 45 to 58 - 13 wins 58 to 72 - 14 wins
Those people aren't running the Rockets. Those people aren't making Houston an undesireable spot for FA's. Up until Morey's tenure we never had this issue. When you sit an think about it all, its been a giant mess since Morey came on board.
Amusing agenda posting. It was a cheap sales pitch with little substance, I'm pretty sure. And really why not? (Though there's the chance at signer's remorse once Bosh sees Wade and Lebron winning 45 games without him). College style recruiting but in the NBA, telling guys what they want to hear and to help yourself. What was Morey gonna say, sign with the Heat for a guaranteed 65 wins and title contention, but here in Houston Yao Ming will hook you up a VIP pass to his restaurant?

When in recent history has this ever been a desirable spot for FAs? On what planet is Houston in the same league as cities like NY/LA/Miami/Chicago? I like Houston and all but lets all get real.
So, what are you alleging then? You think Morey honestly thought Miami was only going to win 45 games when he was pitching to Bosh? The pitch probably wasn't going to work. And Morey told us all along that it was a longshot. But, it didn't hurt to try. But, it's a bit ridiculous for you to take this 'prediction' as a reflection on the effectiveness of moneyball. You can be sure when Morey was putting together his powerpoint deck for Les, it didn't have the number 45 next to Miami.
