haslem and miller were really the only sizable contracts and since haslem essentially missed the whole year and mike miller has essentially been useless thanks to his preseason injury, they really are almost all minimum contract guys after the big 3. i think joel anthony makes $3.3M and everybody else is on a minimum contract.

you guys love to roast morey all the sudden when we were a couple of wins away from memphis!

Just because he predicted 45 wins, doesn't really mean crap. Heat are coming together well lately. good for them. We'll see how they look against chicago.

even then morey is not las vegas , he is just a gm that runs his models ,and his numbers. big whoop. yawn.. close this thready

Pretty sure he said it to make a pitch at Bosh, LOL at people (dumbasses) taking it seriously, and asking his head for it.

They didn't have the MLE, as they were under the cap at the time.
They all took paycuts to get Miller, Haslem and Joel back/on the team

The Heat would still be a 58-win team WITHOUT Bosh.

Well if he told bosh, he could go to a near 60 win team and contend for a title, or come to houston...he wouldn't be much of a salesman would he.

How dare Morey try and talk someone into coming to Houston, he should have just said Yao will probably be hurt and we will suck this season and Miami will be a contender. I bet that would have worked so much better...

This is just dumb to bash him for. What do you think NY and Chi town were saying to Lebron? Hey come here even though Miami is a better option! J

    But 45 wins?

Lebron + 4 Richard Simmons can get you 45 wins in the East

Joel played above my expectation in my opinion. All you really need in the C spot is someone who can hustle and get rebounds; which is exactly what Joel does.
The PG just needs to feed the Big 3 the ball, which is kinda what Bibby can do. Although, Chalmers is a more complete player...

Let me get this straight. Im taking it too seriously?

I laughed at the idea when Morey first made this quote. No idiot in the world could of thought the Heat would be a 45 win team with their big 3, but our GM nerded his numbers out there and "extrapolated" that the Heat would be. But Im the dumbass?

I believe that makes you much more the dumbass for
    a. Even remotely believing this to be possible.

    b. Getting upset that your nut hugging DM self is so upset that someone called out how stupid this comment was and

    c. Think that a GM who makes ludicrous claims to get a FA is a solid move. LOL. Hey Kobe come here because in LA your a 30 win team...say anything to get them here. Really this is your argument. D Howard come to Houston cause in Orlando your only a 40 win team.

    You DUMBASS.

Its amazing that no matter how bad a decision, or comment DM makes that throws of people who come running to defend him.

I wont even get into how terribly he has positioned the Rockets for the future by making horrible contract decisions last year.

I wont even get into how I believe he turned Houston into a decent to good possibility for FAs into a no way destination.

I wont discuss how incredibly stupid it was to Lose two great coaches in a row.

I wont discuss the Rockets position in their division each year since his start as GM.

Here let me really rabble the rabble rousers.

DM has sucked as our GM. Plain and simple. No injury excuses, no this our that excuses. He hasn't done a great job at all.

It really couldn't be that Morey slightly fudged the numbers for salesman purposes, like Cuban using stats to claim that 36 year old Kidd was a top 5 PG when everyone was bashing him for that trade? I mean, what should he tell Bosh? "Yeah, you can go to a solid contender in South Beach?" That's the smart move right there, folks.

Im quite curious if you have ever heard any "Expert" analysis on the heat. That is exactly the main criticism most experts have on the Heat. However, this was in the summer when Morey made this quote so any analysis now will likely skip around the 45 win quote, but how many different rotations have they used at the PG and C spot? How many times has Eddie House been in the lineup and out of the rotation?...

If one of the big three ever seriously sprained an ankle or has knee issues, that team is seriously in trouble. With the big three healthly, great coaching, and an occasional James Jones 3, they have overcome the doubts that ALMOST EVERY expert on ESPN, TNT, NBATV, etc. had on the Miami Heat.

If Morey was trying to make a pitch to sell Bosh on Houston Vs. Miami I think he still said what he had to be said, and he's right. With minimum contracts surrounding 3 players you are seriously taking major risks. You are reaching very hard here just to try and bash Morey.

HE SAID IT AT A PITCH TO SIGN BOSH.

HE IS TRYING TO CONVINCE BOSH THAT IT IS HIS BEST OPTION TO SIGN WITH HOUSTON.

    WHY CAN'T YOU COMPREHEND THAT?

    This thread means nothing.

People taking this seriously need to consider the pretext as to when it was said. It isn't serious at all. It is a part of a sales pitch.

It is ridiculous how gullible you people are. Lol, if you were Bosh, you'd probably take Houston over Miami after hearing Morey (proof that it works haha).

i'm pretty sure this was a first season prediction...teams have trouble initially. 10 wins is about the difference between a team that comes together and one that doesnt. He painted the worst case scenario for Bosh, to get get him to come here. It's stupid to think Morey though that would be the only or most likely scenario. It definitely wouldnt take into consideration adding Z or bibby.

You guys are such homers. Just can't admit that Morey was a complete moron in making this statement.

Z was slated to move along with LBJ, this was about as common knowledge as it gets.

It wasn't a worst case scenario. Worst case scenario would be 10 wins all 3 fall to injury. Seriously....worst case scenario? This is what you guys have fallen to in order to protect DM?

You want to play this game?

How do you think CB viewed the GM of the Rockets after making this statement? He probably lost his mind laughing. Im sure this helped the Rockets out a ton in trying to lure FA's. Our GM believes the Heat were to be a bottom feeder playoff team that doesn't make it far. You wonder why the Rockets aren't a player anymore in the FA market.

Hak, would you say to Bosh who is considering joining a core of Yao/Martin or LeBron/Wade? Which one would you try to sell him on being better?

It means nothing. It is marketing mumbo jumbo.

The goal is to TALK BOSH OUT OF MIAMI.

You are going to do whatever possible to do so.

If it means manipulate statistics to emulate the big 3 plus the worst basketball players of all time, then you do it.

Once again, it is a sales pitch.

I too think that Morey needs to tone it down on the pipe dreams (and number of trades) but I can't deny that he is the better than the previous GM. Out of all the trades he has made, I feel that every one has been good (except the Battier one) and he has a pretty high success rate in draft picks.

This marketing pitch means nothing. And the fact that people are stupid enough to discuss it, says more about those people, than it does about Morey.
