I'm very intrigued by this pick. Even if he never plays a real game for the rockets, I hope he roughs up Eddie Griffin in practice and training camp. Maybe it'll light a fire under Eddie.

this would be a awesome if it came true, but more realistically, this guy is probably in the same class as burditt, venson hamilton, and thomas hamilton

Malik Badiane? ...hmmm...reminds me of Malik Sealy....and Carlos Rogers

If he does get playing time, and isn't injured or has relatives dying as often as Carlos Rogers had, I think the Rockets have got a new power forward in the making ....

How would he compare with someone like Theo Ratliff? I hope he's close or just the younger and less-injury prone version of THEO RATLIFF.

Well, good job to the Scouts. This guy sounds promising, and now with Gundy as our coach hopefully he will get to play some min. I hope Boki gets some PT this season too. What about this German contract, the rockets goign to buy it off or send him back to Europe to work on his game and toughen up? damn....19 yrs old. SO young.

in your continued effort to say that anyone who has ever liked anything about the rockets must be a homer, you have missed the real answer to the question. the "connection" he has with the mavs that 610 was talking about is not his fandom. 610 mentioned that some dallas scout had been talking about this guy from senegal (this was before the draft or near the beginning) that was supposed to be good. i think he has some connection with that scout, and that is his connection to dallas. or his connection is simply that a dallas scout has been praising him. i suspect that while he most likely is like any foreigner who only gets to hear about the best players and best teams (and thus likes dallas), part of his affinity for them is this scout.

i can't imagine he's been watching too many mavs games if defense is his favorite thing.

now since virtually everyone has been showering this pick with praise, there will be no complaining later on if it doesn't work out right? or if there is, you'll admit you're a moron also, right?

while the hype on the guy is impressive and it does seem he fell, i can't get too up about the guy. he seems like he could be a good fit, but since i doubt 99.9% of us have seen any game film of the guy, it's impossible to distinguish hype from reality. i'll just say that for #44, this seems like a great roll of the dice to take and i am happy with the pick whether it works out or not.

well since he's living in germany he didnt't have much of a choice. The only games they show on tv are the mavs and sometimes kings or lakers. Actually all they talk about are the mavs/Dirk.

Das Rockets? - Das ist nicht mein fall.

    Das Mavericks? Wunderbar.

    Just kidding.

Hope Malick actually plays with the Rockets this season.

    Ruben Patterson
    Rashard Lewis
    Cuttino Mobley

This free's up MT, EG, and Collier for trades. MT/Collier is a good trade bait combo for a real point guard now! Does anyone think Cassell is expendable with TJ and Gary on the same team... I'll take him for MT/Collier. :D

How long before the honeymoon is over and fickle board members start bashing Mal Badiane in the same manner as Eddie Griffin? For those questioning the pick now, you are excused from future lambasts. However, I really like the pick even though I was thinking we would go for Lang. Let's sik him on Amare!

I like the pick though I think he'll be playing overseas at least 1 more year. I don't think realistic people will flame a 44th pick as bad as a 7th pick - expectations are not near as high.

I bet Eddie won't punch Badiane...his nickname could be:

    Malick "Bad-Man"

He just needs to practice his Mutombo impersonation...not in my kitchen, you don't, fool...
