If he gets sent back to Europe to play for a year or two..they AFAIR, will not have signed a contract with him beforehand.

The Rox will however retain their rights to sign him in the NBA for a certain amount of time(unlimited?).

Therefore, no matter how much time he spends in Europe, the Rox will still have the right to sign him before any other team when he comes back.

heypartner, gater, hottoddie...am I right in this recollection?

If I am indeed remembering this right..
    ..some advice to you.
Don't spout off crap when you yourself dont know whats going on.

Yeah I agree, he will have to come in here to prove how good he is. But based on the reports I think the Rockets made a great pick by choosing this guy.

Just one thing to remind you. Collier was a 1st round 15th pick taken by the same Rockets management.

Agreed. I understand the excitement of the new season and everytrhing, but some people are touting him as the second coming of DREAM. Dream was the FIRST pick, guys... not the 44th.

I got a question, what is the nba draft coming to, we are being more dependent on bringing in foreign talent and also many who are still very young and raw. What happened to the nbdl and polished senior college players. I gotta admit its good to get Lebron since he plays like an all-star but having to bring in foreign young talent instead of players from nbdl or ncaa in is showing how crappy the nba draft is becoming.

Here's just something I found. No idea how good the source is, but others sure seem to like the pick. Projections

They see Badiane with 18-11 type potential- better than Chris Bosh putting up 18-10.

This is just so strange that there just aren't really negative reports circulating about him. He allegedly was a beast in his workout, and is only 19, plus has put on significants amounts of muscle in a short time. The only negatives we've heard were the "cancelled workouts" thing. Still makes you wonder- why is this guy available at 44? Teams gamble with raw and talented all the time.

I hope cc.net has the people in place at RMR again- if he truly is "not far off from Amare" in terms of beastliness, we'll know soon IMO.

BTW, I think the Rockets have shown they know draft picks- based on what we heard last year, the Rockets 3 favorite guys in last years draft ended up being the 3 biggest impacts (Yao, Amare, Butler).

How big do you want the guys legs to be? Its not like his legs are like Keon Clark's. They seem pretty normal looking to me.

NIKEstrad, there are reports that very much limit Badiane. Check out the Suns website after their workout. The GM (or VP) makes a direct comparison to Amare by saying that there is no comparison. I'll pull it later, or maybe you could.

if anyone here has ever been to a timberwolves game, you'll know that kevin garnett has the absolute skinniest legs in the nba.

leg bulk is extraordinarily deceptive. if you have fast twitch muscles, the size of the actual muscle means very little.

a much more difficult question to answer is:

name a great nba leaper than has large legs???

i honestly cannot think of one.

kobe, tmac, carter, francis (even with the balloon calves), jefferson, mcdyess (pre-injury) all have twigs.

My thought is this, if he is cleared to play this year with the Rockets, we bring him on and say adios to Collier. Having him on the practice floor with Yao can only make the two of them better! We've already seen Yao have some Dream-like moves, maybe that'll translate over to Malick's play.

    buckaroo,

i disagree. clyde has legs which were proportional to his body. clyde was what 6'7"?

when i say big, think earl campbell. legs which are proportionally bigger than they should be. think yao ming.
