Steve Carell's big scene in Bruce Almighty almost gave me a hernia. Damn, I wish he was still on the Daily Show. It would make a merely great show freaking spectacular right now.
Would there be any doubt as to what such a person would be wearing? No -- absolutely not. He is of course wearing a polo.
warning - I'm going to be overly serious for a minute: I wish they would quit seeing the "certain age virgin" thing as fodder for comedy. It happens. More often than you would think. I know some. And they're not as out of it as you might think. There's a group even more people belong to, which is "40 year olds who have slept with too many of the wrong people". And, while I'm not going to be judgmental, there's no particular honor in belonging to that club either. Whether or how often you have gotten laid is not everything. Sex, in a lot of its permutations, is overrated. It makes a great thing to aim for... but only with the right person. No shame in waiting for that. Now, back to your regularly scheduled jokes...
So, Isabel, If I understand what you're saying, you would tell today's teens: do not sleep with guys who wear polo shirts. That makes sense to me.
First day back and you are on a roll already. I think we should petition Jeff to unlock the popped collar thread just to get a post from you in there.
I guess it is better to have sex with the same person 3 or 4 times a week for years, then 3 or 4 partners a month.
This movie is also co-written by Judd Apatow, a producer-writer for Freaks and Geeks. Seth Rogen, who plays Ken in F&G, is also in the movie. I can't wait.
Has anyone not affiliated w/ some sort of weird pseudo-spiritual celibacy cult actually seen the movie this thread is about? Is it as funny as it looks?
Are you serious? I mean, I can respect people for waiting for the right person and such, but to say its overrated is a bit much, IMO...I'm not saying that because I'm a guy and get laid all the time, I'm saying it because I truly believe it to be a great thing and even greater with the right person...If that is your point, then great...Anyway... Back on the topic, I will see this either tonight or tomorrow...
To be fair, those people are made fun of in movies and elsewhere all the time. Both can make for good (or bad) comedy. That said, for the most part, there are really few groups out there that aren't made fun of (some good and some bad), which is part of what is cool about America.
Rottentomatoes.com gave the movie 90/100. Steve Carrell was on Conan last night. Very funny - he did his German comedy routine. Hilarious!
