None of their jumpers improved dramatically. They all came from college! Look at Kidd's stats- where is the dramatic improvement? Year by year for his whole career his 3pt has gone up and down year in year out. Same with Jason Williams. Andre Miller's has never gotten better; at times it has even gotten worse statistically. Let' look at Tony Parker's first 4 years: 3pt%: 32.3% 33.7% 31.2% 27.6% 30.6% After his first season his 3pt% was lower then his first year 3 out've the next 4 years. He did improve his midrange jumper but he was just a little kid when he entered the league. V-Span's 24! And Avery Johnson.... boy o boy did he never improve. In over 1,000 games played he attempted under 200 threes. Clyde Drexler? Did he ever have to shoot 3s? My god he could dunk from like 40 feet out. He was a freak. Devin Harris? He's another great athlete.
Billy will never be more than average under Van Gundy... And since the Rockets are playing so well and should go deep in the playoffs Van Gundy aint going nowhere. So expect Billy to suck until he is traded or goes back to Greece. It's not nice to pick players Mother Gundy doesn't want. The Wrath of Van G!
Clutch should ban you for comparing Spanoulis to Drexler. PS, DaDakota please note that you and I engaged in a lengthy pissing match earlier this season where you INSISTED that Spanoulis was "NBA-ready", and even more "NBA-ready" than mature, american college players with incredible college and amateur resumes and experience like Sam Cassell - something that I found absolutely ridiculous. NOW you are arguing he needs more time to develop and get better? Which is it?
SamFisher, please note that you said we were going to be the worst team in the league with Yao out. Reality hurts...
this is the lyrics to that song: They came at night leaving fear behind Shadows were on the ground Nobody knew where to find him No evidence was found Im never coming back They heard him cry And I believe him Well he never meant to do anything wrong Its gonna get worse if he waits too long Billy, billy dont you lose my number Cos youre not anywhere That I can find you Oh now billy, billy dont you lose my number Cos youre not anywhere that I can find you, oh no Searching through the day and into the night They wouldnt stop till they found him They didnt know him and they didnt understand They never asked him why Get out of my way They heard him shout Then a blinding light Ooh all I could see was him running down the street Out of the shadows and into the night Now billy, billy dont you lose my number Cos youre not anywhere That I can find you, oh Now billy, billy dont you lose my number Cos youre not anywhere that I can find you, oh Dont give up Keep running, keep hiding Dont give up Billy, if you know youre right Dont give up You know that I am on your side Dont give up Oh billy, you better, you better, you better run for your life Now billy, billy dont you lose my number Cos youre not anywhere That I can find you, oh Now billy, billy dont you lose my number Cos youre not anywhere that I can find you, oh They came at night leaving fear behind Shadows were on the ground Nobody knew where to find him No evidence was found Im never coming back They heard him cry And I believe him He never meant to do anything wrong Its gonna get worse if he waits too long Now billy, billy dont you lose my number Cos youre not anywhere That I can find you, oh Now billy, billy dont you lose my number Cos youre not anywhere that I can find you, oh
Jackie, listen up. I will do my annual "Respond to Jackie" post for 2007 now. Then you will have to wait till next year till you get the plaisir of a reponse from moi.....OKAY? I said with Yao AND Tracy out we're the worst team in the league - and I stand by that. Fortunately, they're not both out. However, I did not anticipate (and am THRILLED to be proven wrong) about two things: 1. McGrady managed to come back stronger after looking used and abused early this season...and 2. JVG coaxing "Return of the Living Dead" caliber reanimations from the corpses of Mutumbo and Howard, and general hard, smart, OVERACHIEVING play from everybody. Just awesome. Again, I was wrong about those two things, and did not htink they would happen on Dec 24, and am HAPPY too admit it. So, Jackie, my friend, say danke, beyotch, and C U next year!
this is getting ridiculous. until he gets traded or gets more playing time there should be ban on v-span threads. it's a waste of space.

Yawn - you are simply tiresome, always taking things out of context.....I was pointing out players that had bad jump shots coming into the league and still made an impact. I still think V-Span is NBA ready, but he doesn't get on the court to prove it. If he was the starting poing guard from day one...ala Tony Parker....he would be playing a lot better today.(Not saying he SHOULD be starting, but just pointing out that he would have improved a ton if he were) But, because of the rift with JVG, and the misunderstanding with management, V-Span has to be content with garbage minutes, and playing with scrubs, so his passes lead to clanks instead of assists. Sam, we are not going to agree.....why do we even bother talking about this...???? V-Span will improve, but he would improve rapidly with playing time with better players. DD
Wait, so now you are saying that all jump shots have to be 3 pointers? OOOOOKKKKKKK..... What about the midrange game? DD
Well, I won't disagree that V-Span is going to have a hard time improving his 3pt shot.....maybe he can do it like Jason Kidd.... But I think V-Span's game is in the mid range and driving to the rack. But right now, his game is rooted to the bench and the team is 28-16....so you can't argue with success. DD
See this is one of the reasons I really don't like the guy.... He doesn't want any players going to the media... But he can take his shots in the media about the players.... The guys had a good game and looked real good talk about that... leave the night positive and move on. BTW - V-Span may or may not suck.. There are probably 2 things that he's going thru.. 1) He is stressing and forcing everything trying to prove a point. 2) He is so pissed that he is mentally done. He is already doubting himself and I hate to say this, but the only thing good thing for him or the Rockets is for him to move on. If V-Span has felt like he was decieved then there is no fixing the problem, trust is everything and in his eyesight the trust has been broken. This is no different than what most of us go thru on our jobs. One of the worst things that can happen on a job is be hired for something and then when you start you are doing something totally different.. T_Man
Man, I am glad that Hakeem did not feel that way when he had the problem with Charlie Thomas. Nothing has happened that can't be fixed. DD
OK... I will give you that one.... But the problem with this situation is that V-Span is dealing directly with the coach himself. If I am not mistaken Hakeem had a mediator called Rudy T. So who is going to be the mediator in this case?
