So why defenders are all over Kobe or TMac? If you give them 2 or 3 feet, they will go by any defender in no time.
JVG just delivered a message to "V" at the post game conference.... "that's why I don't want anyone asking me for Playing time"
Going by a defender in the NBA is not an easy thing and most times it plays out like a one on one chess match. You start out by establishing your long game first to force them to defense you more closely. ..once that is established, then make them take the bite with a fake and get the extra first step drive to the basket. Most of these guys are good athlete and are pretty evenly matched on offense and defense, but it's the elite players that uses this strategy effectively that separates them from the average players.
Vspan should be in the Nike Second Coming commercial. He is the Second Coming of Christ........or at least thats what it seems on this board.
That is the funniest thing I have read on here in a long time... I think Billy is right where he should be right now...racing Scotty P. to get the seat next to the last on the bench. If he shuts his mouth and busts his ass, he just might crack the rotation next season. But with his attitude and turnovers he seems to be his own worst enemy. The TMAC of Greece eh...well, maybe something got lost in the translation.

Tony Parker, Andre Miller, and Devin Harris get 5 feet of space because they can't shoot. And as good as they are, it hurts their games. Kobe, Tmac, Carter, and Pierce are all excellent on the drive, but they don't get an inch because they can shoot. Have you even played basketball? If I know a guy can't shoot, I'll give him space and dare him to take it. Giving a player more space just lets you react to his first step that much better.
yeah exactly. I played ball in high school and I loved playing against players that couldn't shoot. I could always jump pretty high and was pretty fast, but I could never move well laterally. I would rather defend a great athlete (not saying V-Span is great athletically compared to NBA standards) with no jumper then defend a great shooter with no athletic ability; the main reason being that I could stop a good athlete by just sagging off of them and closing in when they got close to the hoop. If V-Span can't learn to shoot he will never be able to be an effective slasher. He's not quick enough, tall enough, or just good enough to get to the hoop if a player doesn't give his jumper any respect. Sadly, I think it's too late for V-Span's jumper. I think in most cases if a player can't shoot at all at 24 he will never be able to shoot. In the Rockets system, with TMac and Yao, you have to atleast have a half decent jumper. Rafer isn't a terrific shooter, but he shoots the 3 ball at 36% and is streaky, which is enough for teams to have to give him some respect. With Yao in the post and TMac working the ball you have to be able to shoot a little bit at the guard or you are basically useless, unless you can maneuver like AI.
I love that song. That guy in the "Western" part of the video really does look a bit like Billy Spanoulis.
Signed.... Jason Kidd TJ Ford Jason Williams Rafer Alston Andre Miller Tony Parker Avery Johnson yadda yadda yadda !! DD
let's see: Jason Kidd- he's Jason Kidd. And his jay's at least respectable. TJ Ford- He's quick as hell. Great leaper. Very good dribbler. Jason Williams- Good ball handler. His jumper is at least respectable. Andre Miller- Smart guard. Is strong and has a good post game for a guard. Tony Parker- He can at least hit midrange jays and he's one of the quickest players in the league. Avery Johnson- Quick, smart player. Good ball handler. What does V-Span have that any of those players don't have except for maybe and I mean MAYBE Avery Johnson?
They all had bad jump shots coming into the league....which was kind of your point...saying it was too late for his jumper.. More: Devin Harris Clyde Drexler The league is littered with players who had questionable jump shots who got better.....TONS of em.
