the man scored 100 pts in 1 game... different era against lesser competition... but still... 100... lol and met Elgin Baylor and got autograph at Vegas summer league years ago... i found it hysterical that kids were running around collecting autos from no names (most of whom would never make it...) while Elgin sat there ignored... smh
Absolutely. I've posted about Wilt before. Era smera. Wilt would still be a dominant force into today's game. He was like no other and frankly there really hasn't been any player like him since.
Here's the biggest factor of Wilt's numbers. Minutes. The year he averaged 50.4, he averaged almost 50 minutes per game. Roughly a point per minute, which is less than Harden has been doing for months now.
By the time he retires, he will legitimately have a strong (probably the strongest) case for being the greatest offensive player of all time. I don’t mean to be disrespectful, but there are a number of reasons for not having Wilt in the conversation. The near full year of his 30 point game streak, he had two games under 30 points... Both against Bill Russell. Meaning- The only time he faced real competition, he was human. What we’re talking about is MJ and Kobe level scoring with LeBron level passing. A ring or two and he is in the GOAT conversation!
At age 29, Wilt scored 25.5 per 36. At age 29, Harden scores 35.2 per 36. pts/36 minutes Harden 2012-13: 24.4 13-14: 24.0 14-15: 26.8 15-16: 27.4 16-17: 28.8 17-18: 30.9 18-19: 35.2 Wilt 59-60: 29.2 60-61: 28.9 61-62: 37.4 62-63: 33.9 63-64: 28.8 64-65: 27.6 65-66: 25,5 in 1966-67 Wilt dropped below 20 pts/36. He had a 9-year peak in this stat. James has not peaked but is still on an incline.
