4 year old boy drowns at LifeTime Fitness (Austin)

    They never have lifeguards at the Lifetime in Sugar Land. Unless the pool is packed.

    More on this story.

    The mother was right there in the pool next to him on the slope of the pool, she saw him bobbing up and down (when he must have really been struggling), and turned to talk to a friend for a few minutes...

    He drowned less than 3 feet away from the Mom, as she was talking to a friend.

    Not to mention they were right under the life guard stand, so out of the site lines of the guy in the stand.

    It was a TERRIBLE accident, and I am sure the mother feels awful, but you can not lose sight of your kids for more than a minute......so sad.

    that is a sad story. Makes you realize how quick things can change.

    I actually just joined that Lifetime and went swimming this morning. Plenty of lifeguards around today.

    I was at the pool of this place less than a week before the tragedy occurred. Hard to believe! What a terrible thing, that shouldn't have happened. :(
